Company Number: 15818244 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 July 2026

Company activities and impact

The Society for Technological Advancement (SoTA) held deep technology hackathons, demo evenings, engineering challenges and public debates during the accounting period. It also published SoTA Letters, a journal with articles by technical founders, researchers and hobbyist builders. SoTA’s activities focused on redirecting exceptional talent to critical technologies and building technical talent density in the UK. The year saw SoTA’s members starting new R&D contractors and deeptech companies raising institutional risk capital to build their ventures and advance technoscientific progress. They also joined emerging UK technology companies in high-impact roles across biotechnologies, neurotechnologies, robotics and AI for scientific discovery

Consultation with stakeholders

SoTA’s primary stakeholders are early-career scientists, engineers and technologists in the UK. SoTA held a public consultation “Shaping SoTA’s Future” outlining our plans and mission in April 2026. SoTA has continued public engagement through its public-facing events and published works throughout this accounting period, which has shaped our 2026-27 plans to expand beyond the Golden Triangle.
