During the year the company continued its work of using green woodworking and hand craft to support the wellbeing of people in its community. Its activities fell into three strands. Woodcraft for Wellbeing: sessions for adults in the community, in which participants learned to work fresh green wood with hand tools and to make simple, useful objects. The sessions offered a calm, practical and sociable activity away from screens, helping participants to build skill and confidence, to connect with one another and with the natural world, and to enjoy time spent making with their hands. Whittling for Wellbeing: sessions for children, introducing safe knife skills and whittling in a supportive setting. Children developed concentration, patience, fine motor skills and self-confidence, and learned to handle tools safely and responsibly. Facilitator training: training for craft tutors so that they can run Woodcraft for Wellbeing sessions in their own communities. This extends the benefit of the company's work well beyond the people it reaches directly, building local capacity elsewhere and widening access to craft as a route to wellbeing. The company's work during the year was supported by funding from Devon County Council, the National Lottery, and the School for Social Entrepreneurs.
The company's stakeholders are the people who take part in its sessions, its funders, its volunteers, its partner organisations and the wider local community. The company gathered the views of participants through feedback forms, through conversations at the end of sessions and through a survey. Volunteers and partner organisations were consulted informally through regular conversations and online polling during the year, and funders were kept informed of the company's progress via grant reporting In response to the feedback received, the company has taken on feedback to improve the shape and scope of the content of the facilitator training, applied to more grant funders to ensure there are more accessible woodcraft foe wellbeing sessions, and we continue to invest in upholding a model of co-produced services
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £30,377.40. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
