Dart Mountain Cheese Limited
NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
for the financial year ended 31 January 2026

1. General Information

Dart Mountain Cheese Limited is a company limited by shares incorporated and registered in Northern Ireland. The registered number of the company is NI628506. The registered office of the company is 26 Tamnagh Road, Park, Claudy, Co. Derry, BT47 4DN which is also the principal place of business of the company. The financial statements have been presented in Pounds Sterling (£) which is also the functional currency of the company. The nature of the company's operations and principal activities is the manufacture of hand crafted food products.

2. Summary of Significant Accounting Policies

The following accounting policies have been applied consistently in dealing with items which are considered material in relation to the company's financial statements.

Statement of compliance
The financial statements of the company for the financial year ended 31 January 2026 have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A (Small Entities) and the Companies Act 2006.

Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis and in accordance with the historical cost convention except for certain properties and financial instruments that are measured at revalued amounts or fair values, as explained in the accounting policies below. Historical cost is generally based on the fair value of the consideration given in exchange for assets.

Turnover

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration receivable net of VAT and discounts. The policy adopted for the recognition of turnover is as follows:

Sale of goods

Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer and the amount of turnover can be measured reliably and it is probable the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the company and the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transaction can be measured reliably. This is usually on delivery of the goods to the customer.

Tangible assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are stated at cost or at valuation, less accumulated depreciation. The charge to depreciation is calculated to write off the original cost or valuation of tangible assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives as follows:

Land and buildings freehold - 2% Straight line
Plant and machinery - 10% Straight line
Fixtures, fittings and equipment - 12.5% Straight line
Motor vehicles - 20% Reducing balance
IT hardware, software and website - 25% Straight line

At each reporting period end date, the company reviews the carrying amounts of its tangible assets to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss (if any). Where it is not possible to estimate the recoverable amount of an individual asset, the company estimated the recoverable amount of the cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs.

Recoverable amount is the higher of fair value less costs to sell and value in use. In assessing value in use, the estimated future cash flows are discounted to their present value using a pre-tax discount rate that reflects current markets assessments of the time value of money and the risks specific to the asset for which the estimates of future cash flows have not been adjusted.

If the recoverable amount of an asset (or cash-generating unit) is estimated to be less than its carrying amount, the carrying amount of the asset (or cash-generating unit) is reduced to its recoverable amount. An impairment loss is recognised immediately in the Statement of Income and Retained Earnings, unless the relevant asset is carried at a revalued amount, in which case the impairment loss is treated as a revaluation decrease.

Recognised impairment losses are reversed if, and only if, the reasons for the impairment loss have ceased to apply. Where an impairment loss subsequently reverses, the carrying amount of the asset (or cash-generating unit) is increased to the revised estimate of its recoverable amount, but so that the increased carrying amount does not exceed the carrying amount that would have been determined had no impairment loss been recognised for the asset (cash-generating unit) in prior years. A reversal of an impairment loss is recognised immediately in the Statement of Income and Retained Earnings, unless the relevant asset is carried at a revalued amount, in which case the reversal of the impairment loss is treated as a revaluation increase.

Leasing and hire purchases
Tangible assets held under leasing and Hire Purchases arrangements which transfer substantially all the risks and rewards of ownership to the company are capitalised and included in the Balance Sheet at their cost or valuation, less depreciation. The corresponding commitments are recorded as liabilities. Payments in respect of these obligations are treated as consisting of capital and interest elements, with interest charged to the Statement of Income and Retained Earnings.

Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value. Stocks are determined on a first-in first-out basis. Cost comprises expenditure incurred in the normal course of business in bringing stocks to their present location and condition.  Full provision is made for out of date and slow moving items. Net realisable value comprises actual or estimated selling price (net of trade discounts) less all further costs to completion or to be incurred in marketing and selling.

Trade and other debtors
Trade and other debtors are initially recognised at fair value and thereafter stated at amortised cost using the effective interest method less impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts except where the effect of discounting would be immaterial. In such cases the receivables are stated at cost less impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts.

Borrowing costs
Borrowing costs relating to the acquisition of assets are capitalised at the appropriate rate by adding them to the cost of assets being acquired. Investment income earned on the temporary investment of specific borrowings pending their expenditure on the assets is deducted from the borrowing costs eligible for capitalisation. All other borrowing costs are recognised in profit or loss in the period in which they are incurred.

Trade and other creditors
Trade and other creditors are initially recognised at fair value and thereafter stated at amortised cost using the effective interest rate method, unless the effect of discounting would be immaterial, in which case they are stated at cost.

Employee benefits
When employees have rendered service to the company, short-term employee benefits to which the employees are entitled are recognised at the undiscounted amount expected to be paid in exchange for that service.

Taxation

The charge for taxation is based on the results for the year and takes into account taxation deferred because of timing differences between the treatment of certain items for taxation and accounting purposes.

Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the reporting date. Provision is made at the rates expected to apply when the timing differences reverse. Timing differences are differences between the companys taxable profits and its results as stated in the financial statements that arise from the inclusion of gains and losses in taxable profits in periods different from those in which they are recognised in the financial statements.

Government grants
Capital grants received and receivable are treated as deferred income and amortised to the Statement of Income and Retained Earnings annually over the useful economic life of the asset to which it relates. Revenue grants are credited to the Statement of Income and Retained Earnings when received.

10. Going concern

The company had a profit for the year of £6,102 and at 31 January 2026 the balance sheet was £25,905 in deficit. The company is dependent upon the directors for continuing financial support. As at 31 January 2026, the company owed the directors £341,440. In this respect, the directors have provided written assurances to the company that they will continue to support the company financially to ensure the company can discharge all of its liabilities as they fall due for payment.

Given the circumstances outlined above, the directors have a reasonable expectation that the company will have adequate resources to continue in operational existence for at least twelve months from the date of signing of the financial statements. Accordingly the directors continue to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements. The financial statements do not include any adjustments that would result if the going concern basis of preparation were not appropriate.

11. Security

As security for bank borrowings, Starling Bank Limited holds a fixed and floating charge over all assets of the company.

Toyota Financial Services UK Limited holds specific charges over the assets held under hire purchase contracts.
