NEWTONMORE VILLAGE HALL (REGISTERED NUMBER: SC392132)
REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 29 JANUARY 2026
The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 29 January 2026. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The principle objectives of the company are:
1. To promote the provision of recreational facilities and a meeting place for Community residents .
2. To provide maintenance and management of the Hall for the furtherance of the above objectives.
3. To create a thriving, welcoming, and sustainable Village Hall that serves as the heart of our community - a place for connection, creativity, and collaboration for generations to come.
Our Aims
1. Regeneration - To restore, renew, and revitalise the Village Hall as a vibrant, inclusive space that meets the evolving needs of our community.
2. Innovation - To embrace fresh ideas and creative approaches in how we manage, use, and develop the Hall, ensuring it remains relevant and accessible to everyone.
3. Resilience - To build a strong and adaptable organisation that can meet challenges with positivity, transparency, and teamwork.
4. Sustainability - To operate in an environmentally and financially responsible way, ensuring the long-term future of the Hall for our village.
5. Community and Future Generations - To work with and for our community, creating opportunities that bring people together and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Significant activities
The main activity is the general day to day management and maintenance of the hall.
Starting in October 2025 the Trustees worked tirelessly to reopen the Village Hall following its temporary closure. Since then, significant effort has been dedicated to securing grant funding, organising community events, and undertaking fundraising activities to meet the substantial costs of operating the heating system throughout the winter months.
These achievements would not have been possible without the exceptional support received from local businesses, community groups and residents. Through generous donations of both time and money, members of the community have played a vital role in ensuring that the hall has remained open and continued to serve its purpose as an important community asset. The Trustees are extremely grateful for this support and recognise that the progress made during the last few months has been a truly collective effort.
NEWTONMORE VILLAGE HALL (REGISTERED NUMBER: SC392132)
REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 29 JANUARY 2026
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
During the period, Newtonmore Village Hall generated £24,133 of income, and this funded £15,758 of expenditure on its charitable activities.
The charity recorded overall a net surplus of £8,375 for the financial period. In the year a total of £8,656 of restricted funding was received with £7,956 dedicated towards the LED Lighting Upgrade which is scheduled to be undertaken in February 2026 and therefore not available for general operating purposes.
In addition, £700 was received through two anonymous donations. The Trustees have designated these funds for the purchase of thermal insulated blinds for the Lesser Hall.
Excluding the restricted funds received, the underlying deficit generated from the charity's general activities during the period was £281.
At the year end, the charity had one significant creditor of £3,332, primarily relating to an electricity invoice due for payment in February 2026. These liabilities have been fully reflected in the financial statements.
The financial results for the year should be considered in the context of the Village Hall being closed for approximately eight months of the financial period. This significantly reduced the opportunity to generate income from hall hires and community activities. Despite this challenge, the charity maintained a positive unrestricted financial position and the Trustees remain focused on rebuilding income streams and strengthening the organisation's financial resilience.
Fundraising activities
100 Club
Over the year, the 100 Club has grown into a strong and successful source of funding for the Charity. As of 29 January 2026, membership stood at 120, generating £300 per month in income for the Village Hall.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
The trustees consider that the level of reserves is sufficient to enable the company to operate for the foreseeable future.
FUTURE PLANS
Future Developments
The Trustees intend to build on the success of the events we have held in the last few months. By delivering a varied programme of events over the coming year, that caters to a wide range of interests and demographics within the community, we aim to increase participation while generating additional income to support the hall's ongoing operation and development.
We will also continue to strengthen relationships with existing hall users and seek opportunities to attract new regular hirers, ensuring the hall remains well utilised throughout the year.
The planned launch of a dedicated website, alongside the continued use of social media platforms, will help to increase awareness of the hall, its facilities and events, both within the local community and further afield. Recognising that not everyone is able to access digital communications, the Trustees will also explore alternative ways of sharing information and engaging with members of the community.
The Trustees remain committed to securing the long-term future and sustainability of the hall through the successful delivery of the regeneration project. During the coming year, we will continue to raise funds and seek grant funding to enable the completion of Phase One of the regeneration project, with the aim of commencing Phase Two prior to the end of January 2027.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF
NEWTONMORE VILLAGE HALL
I report on the accounts for the year ended 29 January 2026 set out on pages five to twelve.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity's trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(a) to (c) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under Section 44(1)(c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of the independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention :
| (1) | which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements |
| - | to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations; and |
| - | to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with Regulation 8 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations |
have not been met; or
| (2) | to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. |
