Part 1 — General description of the company's activities and impact

Describe the activities the company has carried out during the year and how they have benefited the community.

During the financial year ending 31 August 2026, Transformation Education CIC, trading as Durham Home Ed Community Hub, provided educational, social and personal development opportunities for home-educated children and young people and their families across County Durham and the wider North East. The company organised and facilitated educational workshops, enrichment activities, creative and practical learning opportunities, and opportunities for children and young people to develop their confidence, independence, social connections and wider skills. Our provision supported families who choose home education by increasing access to structured learning opportunities and creating a supportive community in which children and young people could develop friendships and a sense of belonging. We sought to make educational opportunities accessible to children with a range of learning needs, interests and abilities, providing flexible and inclusive experiences outside conventional school settings. The company continued developing its educational pathways, including opportunities for project-based learning and personal development, with the aim of improving educational choice, wellbeing and longer-term outcomes for home-educated young people. The community benefited through reduced social isolation, increased opportunities for learning and enrichment, stronger connections between families, and improved access to educational provision designed around the needs of home-educated learners.

Part 2 — Consultation with stakeholders

Stakeholders: Our principal stakeholders are home-educated children and young people, their parents and carers, and the teachers, facilitators and educational providers who deliver activities through Durham Home Ed Community Hub. We also engage with local organisations and community partners involved in supporting educational opportunities for home-educating families.

How they were consulted: Stakeholders were consulted through regular informal conversations, direct communication with parents and carers, feedback from children and young people, and ongoing discussions with teachers and facilitators. Families were encouraged to share their experiences, suggest activities and identify areas where additional provision or support would be beneficial. Feedback was gathered through everyday interactions, correspondence and discussions about existing and proposed activities as well as more formal online surveys.

Actions taken: Feedback from stakeholders informed the ongoing development and refinement of our educational provision. We considered families' interests, learning needs and practical requirements when planning activities, developing educational pathways and making decisions about programme delivery. We worked with teachers and facilitators to adapt activities where appropriate, support different learning needs and create inclusive opportunities for children and young people. This helped ensure that our provision remained responsive to the community it serves.
