have been prepared in compliance with FRS 102 Section 1A, 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable to the UK and Republic of Ireland'.

3 Accounting policies

Basis of preparation

The
financial statements
have been prepared on the historical cost basis, as modified by the revaluation of certain assets.
The
financial statements
are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the company.

Going concern

Management has taken into account all available information about the future, which is at least, but not limited to, 12 months from the date when the financial statements were authorised for issue. There is a reasonable expectation that the entity will continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. The entity therefore continues to adopt the going concern basis in preparing its financial statements.

FRS 102 periodic review

The entity has applied the Amendments to FRS 102 - Periodic Review 2024 for the first time. These amendments introduced significant changes to Section 23 Revenue from Contracts with Customers and Section 20 Leases. The revised Section 23 introduced new accounting requirements for revenue recognition based on the five-step model for revenue recognition from IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers. The revised Section 20 Leases introduced new lease accounting requirements based on the on-balance sheet model from IFRS 16 Leases with appropriate simplifications.

Turnover

Turnover is measured at the transaction price, being the amount of consideration to which the entity expects to be entitled in exchange for transferring promised goods or services to customers, net of discounts and Value Added Tax.
Revenue is recognised when (or as) the entity satisfies a performance obligation by transferring control of a promised good or service to a customer. Where a contract contains multiple performance obligations, the transaction price is allocated to each obligation based on relative stand-alone selling prices. Variable consideration is included in the transaction price only to the extent that it is highly probable that a significant reversal will not occur.
Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised at the point in time when control of the goods transfers to the customer, which is usually on despatch. Revenue from the rendering of services is recognised over time by measuring progress towards complete satisfaction of the performance obligation at the reporting date.

Current tax

Current tax is recognised on taxable profit for the current and past periods. Current tax is measured at the amounts of tax expected to pay or recover using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted at the reporting date.

Tangible assets

Tangible assets are initially measured at cost, and are subsequently measured at cost less any accumulated depreciation and accumulated impairment losses or at a revalued amount.
Any tangible assets carried at a revalued amount are recorded at the fair value at the date of revaluation less any subsequent accumulated depreciation and subsequent accumulated impairment losses.
An increase in the carrying amount of an asset as a result of a revaluation is recognised in other comprehensive income and accumulated in capital and reserves. However, the increase is recognised in profit or loss to the extent that it reverses a revaluation decrease of the same asset previously recognised in profit or loss. A decrease in the carrying amount of an asset as a result of revaluation is recognised in other comprehensive income to the extent of any previously recognised revaluation increase accumulated in capital and reserves. If a revaluation decrease exceeds the accumulated revaluation gains accumulated in capital and reserves in respect of that asset, the excess is recognised in profit or loss.
Depreciation is calculated so as to write off the cost of an asset, less its estimated residual value, over the useful economic life of that asset as follows:
Land and buildings
2% reducing balance
Plant and machinery
20% reducing balance and 10% straight line
Fixtures, fittings and equipment
20% reducing balance

Impairment

A review for indicators of impairment is carried out at each reporting date, with the recoverable amount being estimated where such indicators exist. Where the carrying value exceeds the recoverable amount, the asset is impaired accordingly. Prior impairments are also reviewed for possible reversal at each reporting date.
