Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Travel Things Museum (TTM) continued its activities as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, promoting cultural understanding and public engagement through global travel, everyday objects, design and storytelling. The company organised Everyday Objects Shape Our World, an exhibition presented as part of London Design Festival 2026 at Shoreditch Town Hall. The exhibition enabled members of the public and the design community to explore objects from different cultures and discover the stories, traditions and experiences they represent. TTM also supported education and skills development through collaboration with UK universities, providing practical learning and volunteering opportunities for 24 university placement students and volunteers. These activities encouraged knowledge sharing, creative thinking and engagement with museum curation and exhibition development. The company presented selected objects from its collection at unit.d gallery and provided cultural research and consultancy to a London-based architecture practice, sharing its knowledge of international cultures to support creative and professional activities. TTM continued to develop partnerships with creative and educational organisations, including work towards a British Teasmade TeaHouse initiative planned for 2027. We worked with international masterplanning and architecture practices on projects in Egypt, providing cultural insights and creative consultancy to support their development projects. Through this work, TTM encouraged greater consideration of local cultures, community needs and cultural sensitivities within large-scale urban design initiatives. Travel Things Museum benefits the community by making cultural learning accessible through everyday objects, design and storytelling. Its exhibitions and public engagement activities encourage people to explore different cultures, traditions and human experiences, promoting curiosity, creativity and cross-cultural understanding. The company supports education and skills development by working with universities and providing placement and volunteering opportunities for students to gain practical experience in curation, exhibition development and creative collaboration. Through partnerships with artists, designers, educational institutions and other organisations, TTM encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration across creative disciplines. Its collection and activities help connect people with the cultural significance of ordinary objects, making learning engaging and accessible to a wider public. The company pursues its community interest objectives by promoting cultural understanding, supporting emerging creative practitioners and providing opportunities for public participation in cultural and educational activities.
