In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. Affable CIC provided free and reduced-cost marketing, communications and business support to local community organisations, volunteer-led groups, young creatives and start-up businesses. Activities included marketing plans and practical support to help community organisations increase participation, improve communications and develop the skills of volunteers. A campaign supporting unpaid male carers secured a BBC radio interview, substantial social-media engagement and listens to an audio drama, raising awareness of an often-overlooked group. A campaign to drive footfall to a community event saw over 4,000 visitors over the weekend, a significant increase compared to previous years. Affable CIC delivered marketing and social media workshops for 12 people from volunteer-led community groups; social-media and content-creation talks for 18 young creatives; and a free marketing talk for 22 local start-up businesses, supported by a podcast recording. The support helped people and organisations build confidence, develop practical skills, improve their visibility and become more self-sufficient and sustainable. Feedback received was positive.
Affable CIC’s stakeholders include local community organisations, volunteers, social-impact organisations, young creatives, start-up businesses and community hubs. The company consulted regularly with a local business-support venue, community organisations and volunteer-led groups to understand their marketing, communications and skills needs. Feedback highlighted the barriers created by limited resources, reliance on volunteers and lack of access to specialist support. This consultation informed the provision of free and reduced-cost marketing plans, workshops, talks and practical support. Feedback was positive and reinforced the need for accessible support to help smaller organisations communicate effectively and become more sustainable.
During the year, Laura Stead, a Director of the company, received £800 for freelance marketing services provided to Affable CIC in connection with the delivery of a marketing plan for Hidden Men. No other remuneration was received by the Directors.
