Consultation with stakeholders

Expression Concert Music Foundation C.I.C. engaged with stakeholders to understand community needs, identify barriers to participation and inform the development of its music education and wellbeing activities. The company's key stakeholders include children and young people, parents and carers, local residents, musicians, music facilitators, volunteers, community organisations, local authorities and funding partners. Consultation was undertaken primarily through informal discussions, direct engagement with programme participants and their families, feedback during music activities, and communication with community partners and facilitators. These engagements focused on the accessibility and affordability of music education, participants' learning interests, the need for inclusive recreational opportunities, and the potential for music to improve emotional wellbeing and reduce social isolation. Feedback from stakeholders informed the company's approach to developing accessible instrumental tuition, group music sessions and community-based creative activities. Particular attention was given to providing opportunities for disadvantaged young people, accommodating different musical abilities and creating welcoming environments where participants could develop confidence, skills and positive relationships. Engagement with musicians and facilitators also helped inform programme planning, identify suitable teaching resources and consider how activities could be delivered effectively.
