2 Accounting policies

2.1 Basis of preparation

Basis of preparation and early adoption: The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (incorporating the 2024 Periodic Review amendments), Section 1A (Small Entities), the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting by Limited Liability Partnerships issued in 2026 (SORP), and the Companies Act 2006 (as applied to LLPs). The LLP has elected to early adopt the amendments arising from the FRS 102 2024 Periodic Review. These amendments are otherwise mandatory for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026. The accounting policies applied to leases, revenue, and financial instruments have been updated accordingly. The LLP has applied the modified retrospective approach on transition. Under this method, prior period comparative figures for the year ended 31 March 2025 have not been restated. The cumulative effect of initial application has been recognized as an adjustment to the opening balance of members' capital/retained earnings at the date of initial application (1 April 2025). Leases: The LLP recognizes a right-of-use asset and a corresponding lease liability at the lease commencement date for all lease arrangements, except for short-term leases (leases with a term of 12 months or less) and leases of low-value assets. Lease liabilities: Initially measured at the present value of the lease payments unpaid at the transition date (1 April 2025), discounted using the LLP's incremental borrowing rate. Subsequent measurements reflect the accretion of interest and lease payments made. Right-of-use assets: Measured at an amount equal to the lease liability, adjusted by any prepaid or accrued lease payments relating to that lease recognized in the statement of financial position immediately before the date of initial application. Depreciation is charged on a straight-line basis over the shorter of the asset's useful life and the lease term. Revenue from Contracts with Customers: Revenue is recognized by applying a five-step performance-obligation model, reflecting the transfer of promised goods or services to customers at an amount that reflects the consideration to which the LLP expects to be entitled. Where performance obligations are satisfied over time (e.g., service contracts, ongoing projects), revenue is recognized based on the progress towards complete satisfaction of that performance obligation. If a contract allocates transaction price to distinct obligations that are not yet fulfilled at the balance sheet date, the corresponding consideration is recognized as deferred revenue within contract liabilities. The financial statements are prepared in sterling which is the functional currency of the LLP. Transition to FRS 102 (2024 Periodic Review Amendments): This is the first year the LLP has presented its financial statements under FRS 102 (incorporating the 2024 Periodic Review amendments) and the 2026 LLP SORP. The date of initial application was 1 April 2025. The LLP has elected to apply the modified retrospective transition provisions. The impact of the early adoption on the opening balance sheet at 1 April 2025 is outlined below: Adoption of Section 20 (Leases): On 1 April 2025, the LLP recognized right-of-use assets of £20,000 and lease liabilities of £20,000 in relation to leases previously classified as operating leases under the historical standard. The lease liabilities were discounted using the LLP's incremental borrowing rate at 1 April 2025, which averaged 4.75%. Adoption of Section 23 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers): On 1 April 2025, the application of the five-step performance-obligation model resulted in a nil net deferral of revenue for contracts unfulfilled at the transition date. Adjustment to Opening Reserves: The net cumulative impact of the lease and revenue transition adjustments above resulted in a nil net impact to the opening balance of members' reserves at 1 April 2025.

2 Accounting policies

2.2 Going concern disclosure

Going concern: The members have reviewed the financial position of the LLP and have a reasonable expectation that the LLP has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future, being a period of at least twelve months from the date of approval of these financial statements. In making this assessment, the members have considered the impact of the early adoption of the FRS 102 (2024 Periodic Review) amendments—specifically the transition to the new lease accounting and revenue recognition models—on the LLP’s net assets, working capital, and future cash flows. The members have also reviewed cash flow forecasts, taking into account reasonably possible changes in trading performance and the available borrowing facilities. Accordingly, the LLP continues to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements.

2.3 Turnover

Turnover is measured based on the consideration specified in a contract with a customer and excludes amounts collected on behalf of third parties. The LLP recognises revenue when it transfers control over a service to a customer. Turnover from corporate and business management consultancy services is recognised over time as the performance obligations are satisfied. Progress toward complete satisfaction of a performance obligation is measured based on the proportion of contract milestones achieved or hours delivered relative to total estimated project commitments.
