NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 JULY 2026

1. STATUTORY INFORMATION

Midland Bearings Limited is a private company, limited by shares , registered in England and Wales. The company's registered number and registered office address can be found on the Company Information page.

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" including the provisions of Section 1A "Small Entities" and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Significant judgements and estimates
In the application of the company's accounting policies, the directors are required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.

The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Stock valuation

The company maintains a wide range of stocks as an integral part of its trading activities. In assessing the net realisable value of stocks, the directors exercise judgement, particularly in relation to slow-moving items. Consideration is given to stock ageing, historical sales patterns, anticipated future demand and estimated selling prices. Slow-moving stocks are not necessarily considered obsolete, given the nature of the company's business.

Recoverability of deferred tax assets

The recognition of deferred tax assets in respect of trading losses carried forward requires judgement regarding the availability of future taxable profits. The directors have assessed the recoverability of these assets by reference to forecasts of future trading performance, including the anticipated reduction in expenditure that is not expected to recur at recent levels. Based on these forecasts, the directors consider that sufficient future taxable profits will be available to utilise the losses for which deferred tax assets have been recognised.

Revenue
Turnover
Turnover is recognised to the extent that it is probable that the economic benefits will flow to the Company and the revenue can be reliably measured. Turnover is measured as the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, value added tax and other sales taxes.

Interest income
Interest income is recognised in the Income Statement using the effective interest method.

Tangible fixed assets
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.
Fixtures and fittings - 20% on reducing balance
Motor vehicles - 25% on reducing balance
Computer equipment - 33% on reducing balance

Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.

Cost is calculated using the first-in, first-out method and includes all purchases, transport, and handling costs in bringing stocks to their present location and condition.
