1. Summary of significant accounting policies

1.1 General information and basis of preparation
Bird Flight Films Limited is a private company limited by shares, registered in England and Wales. The address of the registered office is as below:
42 Pleydell Avenue
London
England
SE19 2LP
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102 the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland as adapted by Section 1A of FRS 102 and the Companies Act 2006.
The nature of the company's operations and principal activities during the year was motion picture production activities.
The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis.
The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the entity.
The company has taken advantage of the option not to prepare consolidated financial statements contained in Section 398 of the Companies Act 2006 on the basis that the company and its subsidiary undertakings comprise a small group.

1.2 Going concern
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. The director has assessed the company's ability to continue as a going concern and has a reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. On this basis, she continues to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing these financial statements.

1.3 Grants
Grants are recognised in the profit and loss account when they have been approved by the relevant authority and the related expenditure has been incurred.

1.3.1 Production Costs
Production costs are carried forward where, in the opinion of the directors, they are expected to prove recoverable in future.

1.3.2 Revenue recognition
Revenue is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable and represents amounts receivable for services provided in the normal course of business, net of discounts and VAT. Revenue is recognised when the company transfers control of a promised service to a customer, at an amount that reflects the consideration to which the company expects to be entitled in exchange for those services.

1.4 Taxation
Deferred tax is provided on the liability method to take account of timing differences between the treatment for certain items for accounting purposes and their treatment for tax purposes. Tax deferred is accounted for in respect for all material timing differences. Deferred taxation is not provided on timing differences arising from the revaluation of fixed assets where there is no commitment to sell the asset. Deferred tax assets are only recognised to the extent that they are regarded as recoverable.

1.5 Foreign currency
Foreign currency transactions are initially recorded in the functional currency, by applying the spot exchange rate as at the date of the transaction. Monetary assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currencies are translated at the exchange rate ruling at the reporting date, with any gains or losses being taken to the profit and loss account.

1.6 Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses.
Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset on a systematic basis over its expected useful life as follows:
Asset class
Useful life / depreciation rate
Equipment
33% straight line

1.7 Financial instruments
Fixed asset investments
Investments in subsidiary undertakings are initially recognised at cost and are subsequently measured at cost less any accumulated impairment losses.
The carrying amounts of investments are reviewed at each reporting date to determine whether there is any indication of impairment. Where the recoverable amount of an investment is less than its carrying amount, an impairment loss is recognised in profit or loss.
Other financial assets
Basic financial assets, including trade and other debtors and cash at bank and in hand, are initially recognised at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost.
Basic financial liabilities, which include trade and other creditors, are initially recognised at the transaction price, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where it is initially and subsequently measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest.
Impairment of financial assets
At the end of each reporting period, the company assesses whether there is evidence of impairment of any financial assets, including investments, loans, trade debtors and cash. If there is evidence of impairment, impairment losses are recognised in the Profit and Loss account in that financial year.

1.8 Defined contribution plans
Contributions to defined contribution plans are recognised as an expense in the period in which the related service is provided. Prepaid contributions are recognised as an asset to the extent that the prepayment will lead to a reduction in future payments or a cash refund.
When contributions are not expected to be settled wholly within 12 months of the end of the reporting date in which the employees render the related service, the liability is measured on a discounted present value basis. The unwinding of the discount is recognised as a finance cost in profit or loss in the period in which it arises.
