COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

STARTNEWLIFE CIC

Company Number: 15445605 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

During the period 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2026 the company (then named MENDEE CIC; renamed STARTNEWLIFE CIC on 2 September 2026) held no bank account of its own and did not trade. Its only transaction was a GBP 375 penalty for the late filing of the previous year's accounts, paid on the company's behalf by a director and owed to him at the year end. The company's community purpose (free, multilingual information for refugees and migrants in the United Kingdom) was pursued throughout the period by its directors and by six volunteers, who translated information and moderated the community chat. All of them worked without payment. The company's website at startnewlife.uk remained available throughout the period and was used by 196 people across 248 visits, reading 654 pages (Google Analytics, 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2026). All information is free to read, carries no advertising, and no user was charged. The running costs of the website and supporting services were met by MENDEE LTD (company number 14071822), a company under common directorship, as support in kind. No grants, donations or social investment were received or made during the period. Ms Aryuna Erdynieva resigned as a director on 29 April 2025 and Mr Suhayl Odiljonzoda was appointed as a director on 26 January 2026. The company intends to operate its own bank account, to seek grant funding for its programmes, and to report its activity and expenditure in the ordinary way from the following period onwards.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's stakeholders are its readers: refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in the United Kingdom who use the information it publishes, together with the volunteers who help produce it. They are reached through the company's Telegram channel and the community chat linked to it. During the period the directors used these to ask readers for their views directly: on 2 December 2025, a poll asking which formats of information readers find most useful (text, infographics, presentations or podcasts); on 9 December 2025, an open question asking readers which digital tools they use, answered in the comments; and on 31 December 2025, a vote on the logo for the community chat, with the option to keep the existing one. Alongside these, questions raised by readers in the chat and in comments on the channel were gathered informally by the directors and volunteers and used to decide which information to translate and publish. No structured survey of readers' needs was carried out during the period, and the company does not claim that any specific change in its work can be traced to a particular poll.

Directors' remuneration

No remuneration was received
