Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have remained unchanged from the previous year, and also have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives:
Loss Arising from Abandoned Property Acquisition
During previous financial years, the Company paid deposits totalling approximately £100,000 towards the proposed acquisition of an off-plan apartment situated in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham, at an agreed purchase price of £393,000. The deposits were funded by amounts advanced to the Company by the director and their spouse.
In May 2025, the Company decided not to proceed with the proposed acquisition following unsuccessful attempts to secure suitable mortgage financing and an assessment that the property's estimated market value of approximately £300,000 did not justify the purchase price and the additional financing and associated costs required to complete the transaction.
Consequently, the deposits were forfeited, resulting in a loss of approximately £100,000 recognised in the financial year ended 31 January 2026. The Company did not acquire the property and no disposal of property took place.
The amounts advanced by the director and their spouse are accounted for separately in accordance with the nature and terms of the relevant funding arrangements.
