Auction House, is an artist-led contemporary art project space based at The Buttermarket, Redruth. Established in 2018, it provides a platform for local, emerging, national and international artists to showcase their work, experiment with new ideas and engage with the public through exhibitions, residencies, performances, screenings and cultural events. The organisation has a positive impact on the local community by increasing access to contemporary art and creative activities, supporting artists in developing their careers, and encouraging community participation. It contributes to the regeneration of Redruth town centre by bringing visitors to The Buttermarket, supporting the local creative economy and helping to establish the area as a destination for arts and culture. As a community-focused organisation, Auction House promotes creativity, collaboration and cultural diversity while creating opportunities for people to experience and engage with contemporary art.
Auction House's stakeholders include artists and creatives, visitors and the local community in Redruth, volunteers, funders, partner organisations and other relevant local businesses. Consultation takes place through informal conversations and ongoing dialogue with artists, visitors and collaborators in connection with exhibitions, residencies, events and other creative projects. Feedback may also be received through email, social media and discussions with project partners. Feedback from stakeholders helps Auction House understand the needs and interests of artists and audiences and informs the development of its exhibitions, events and future activities. The organisation aims to provide an accessible and welcoming platform for contemporary art, support creative development and strengthen connections between artists and the local community. Where appropriate, feedback is considered when planning future activities and developing partnerships. Consultation is proportionate to the scale and artist-led nature of the organisation, and not all feedback is collected through formal surveys or recorded consultation exercises.
The director received remuneration of £3,910 for work undertaken as part of an Arts Council-funded project. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
