| Trustees Annual Report |
| For the year ended 31 March 2026 |
Objectives and Activities |
| Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document |
The charity's objects are is to improve the quality of life and well-being of the Chinese Community in London, particularly the new arrivals and those who are disadvantaged, preserving Chinese culture, arts, identity and traditions. The policies adopted in furtherance of these objects are those that continue to provide services to meet the needs of the Chinese Community across London. There has been no change in these during the year. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts |
Health and wellbeing remain core priorities for our organisation. Throughout the year, we worked closely with various NHS departments to deliver health education workshops on common conditions affecting our community, including chronic illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes. We also partnered with Dementia UK to provide weekly consultation sessions, delivering over 190 sessions for members and families affected by dementia. These services have been invaluable in helping individuals access specialist advice, practical support, and reliable information to improve their quality of life. In response to the growing demand for immigration support, we collaborated with the Home Office to deliver a series of eVisa workshops. Following specialised training, our advisers are now fully equipped to provide effective guidance and assistance to those navigating the UK immigration system. At the local level, we are particularly grateful for the continued support of Westminster City Council, which has worked closely with us throughout the year. The Council supported several of our outdoor community projects and has pledged further assistance for future initiatives, including Chinese New Year celebrations and our annual Tai Chi activities.? |
| Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit |
The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake. |
Achievements and Performance
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity?s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole | ||
Despite the continuing rise in the cost of living and inflation across the UK, our Centre has remained steadfast in its commitment to serving our members and supporting the Chinese community. It is my pleasure to present the Annual Report for the financial year 2025?2026. Our Information and Advice Service handled 2,091 cases, securing a total of ?665,498.64 in benefits and financial support for our members. The UK Society of Chinese Lawyers (UKSCL) continued to provide weekly pro bono legal advice by telephone, and together we assisted with 60 legal cases during the year. We also maintained our valuable partnership with TBA Global Accounting Firm, which provided free monthly accounting consultations at our Centre, offering nearly 50 sessions of guidance and support to our community members. For almost five decades, our Centre has been at the heart of the community, providing a place of belonging, friendship, and support. Through the dedication and commitment of our staff, volunteers, and trustees, we continue to enrich lives, strengthen community connections, and empower people of all ages to thrive.? In a rapidly changing world, the London Chinese Community Centre remains a beacon of hope, opportunity, and inclusion for the Chinese and Southeast Asian communities. Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more resilient future, ensuring that our Centre remains a vital source of support, friendship, and community spirit for generations to come.

Financial Review | ||
| Review of the charity?s financial position at the end of the period | ||
As highlighted throughout this report, the challenging economic climate has created significant pressures for many small charities, including our own. In response, we strengthened our online presence through social media and modern fundraising platforms, enabling us to reach a wider audience and attract vital additional donations. We expanded our digital footprint to TikTok and Rednotes (Xiaohongshu) to increase the visibility of our Centre. Furthermore, alongside JustGiving, which has long been a staple donation platform for us, we have partnered with Benevity UK to allow corporate organisations to donate directly to us. We also developed strategic partnerships with new to deliver both essential and enhanced services and workshops to the Chinese community. Through these combined efforts, we successfully maintained a balanced financial position during the year while significantly raising the profile and visibility of our charity. Therefore, despite ongoing economic uncertainty, our charity continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience and strength. Through prudent financial management, operational efficiency, and robust governance, we have successfully maintained our position as one of London's leading Chinese community charities. Our Board of Trustees remains fully committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and good governance. None of these achievements would have been possible without the generosity and support of our partners, funders, volunteers, and members. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the following organisations for their invaluable support throughout the year:
In addition to financial contributions, we are incredibly fortunate to receive the generous support of KFC Corporation through the FareShare programme, which regularly provides chicken for our lunch club, and Tilda Limited, which donated rice for our festive parties. Our Centre proudly runs a luncheon club four days a week, providing over 5,000 nutritious meals to members and welcoming non-members alike.

In the reporting period in which the stocks are distributed, they are recognised as an expense at the carrying amount of the stocks at distribution. Donated goods for resale are measured at fair value on initial recognition, which is the expected proceeds from sale less the expected costs of sale, and recognised in ?Income from other trading activities' with the corresponding stock recognised in the balance sheet. Gifts in kind for use by the charity are included in the SoFA as income from donations when receivable. Donated services and facilities are included in the SOFA when received at the value of the gift to the charity provided the value of the gift can be measured reliably.Donated services and facilities that are consumed immediately are recognised as income with an equivalent amount recognised as an expense under the appropriate heading in the SOFA.

This includes any realised or unrealised gains or losses on the sale of investments and any gain or loss resulting from revaluing investments to market value at the end of the year.
| Notes (Continued) |

Governance and support costs
Support costs have been allocated between governance costs and other support. Governance costs comprise all costs involving public accountability of the charity and its compliance with regulation and good practice. Support costs include central functions and have been allocated to activity cost categories on a basis consistent with the use of resources, eg allocating property costs by floor areas, or per capita, staff costs by the time spent and other costs by their usage.
Grants with performance conditions
Where the charity gives a grant with conditions for its payment being a specific level of service or output to be provided, such grants are only recognised in the SoFA once the recipient of the grant has provided the specified service or output.
