Trustees' Report
The trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025.
Objectives and Activities
Aims and Objectives
The charity is registered as a charitable company limited by guarantee and was set up by a Memorandum of
Association. The company was incorporated on 16 October 2008 and registered as a charity on 3 August 2009.
The charity was created to form a vehicle for the merging of the Tissue Viability Nurses Association (TVNA) and Wound Care Society (WCS).
The objectives of the Wound Care Alliance are as follows:
o         A member network
o         The provision of educational resources
o         Production of evidence based guidelines
o         A communication forum
The Wound Care Alliance (WCA) is committed to advancing education and professional development in the speciality of tissue viability. A key objective is to nurture healthcare professionals working at the fundamental level—supporting and encouraging them to pursue further education and careers within tissue viability. In doing so, the WCA  contributes to the development of the next generation of Tissue Viability Nurses, Podiatrists, and Allied Health Professionals, while also supporting both specialist and non-specialist practitioners through accessible professional development resources and networks.
Significant Activities
Wound Care alliance seeks to represent the profession at both national and international levels by providing an informed, authoritative voice on issues related to tissue viability. This includes collaborative work with key organisations such as responding to Department of Health and Social Care consultation documents, engaging with NHS Supply Chain regarding tissue viability-related products and services and other organisations such as the National Wound Care Strategy.
Public Benefit
The Charity is dedicated to improving public understanding of tissue viability issues. It seeks to provide accessible, user-friendly information and resources for patients, carers, and the wider public. This includes raising awareness of complex challenges within wound care  including essential skin integrity, pressure damage, lymphoedema, and the appropriate use of equipment across both primary and secondary care.
The trustees confirm that they have complied with the requirements of Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and have given due consideration to that guidance on public benefit in planning and delivering the charity’s aims and activities. Reduced membership fees, increased accessibility, a focus on public education, and strong advocacy for evidence-based practice have all been pursued to ensure that the charity continues to deliver meaningful benefit to the public.
Achievements and Performance
Main Achievements
During the reporting period, the Wound Care Alliance UK (WCAUK) has continued to fulfil its charitable aims through a range of activities aimed at professional development and public engagement in tissue viability.
The quarterly journal Wound Care, published in collaboration with Mark Allen Healthcare will end in September 2026. A twice-yearly online publication to be called Wound Care Alliance supplement will be produced in association with Kernexus Limited and will continue to produce peer reviewed high-quality articles and will remain a key member benefit. All UK-based members will receive an online edition, ensuring access to up-to-date, evidence-based content. Membership has continued to grow, with the WCAUK now supporting a professional network of over 5,500 members.
A highly successful national conference was held in May 2025 in Bristol. The event was fully subscribed, with a waiting list in operation, and received excellent feedback from attendees. A summary report of the conference evaluation is available to view on the WCAUK website.

Main Achievements - continued
Commercial support remains strong, with eight corporate sponsors continuing their engagement during the year. In addition, WCAUK will not receive payment from Kernexus for its contributions to the content and preparation of Wound Care Alliance supplement in the first year of publication.
The charity’s digital infrastructure has also seen notable developments. A trustee with IT expertise has provided ongoing support, including a full review of the WCAUK website, guidance on digital strategy, and the creation of a dedicated QR code to streamline membership sign-up and promote wider visibility of the organisation.
These activities collectively support the WCAUK’s strategic objectives of education, professional development, stakeholder engagement, and public benefit within the field of tissue viability.
Financial Review
Financial Position
Corporate sponsorship income amounted to £17,600, (2024 £17,649) with other income of Nil, (2024 £4,931). Expenditure for the year totalled £10,209 (2024 £18,713) resulting in a net increase in reserves of £7,496, (2024 £4,555) to £54,496,(2024 £47,000)
Reserves Policy
The trustees consider that a reserve of £40,000 is appropriate to support the charity if income streams are reduced (such as they have been during the pandemic) to support the on-going function of the charity.
Going Concern
The Charity has sufficient financial reserves to enable continuing activities through 2026 and in to 2027
The trustees are satisfied with our current position and are confident that the WCAUK will continue to re-gain its commercial sponsors. The trustees will continue to focus their efforts on securing commercial sponsorship for WCAUK.
Structure, Governance and Management
Governing Document
The Charity is registered as a charitable company limited by guarantee and was set up by a Memorandum of Association. The company was incorporated on 16th October 2008 and registered as a charity on 3 August 2009.
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.
Trustee Selection Methods
The management of the charity is the responsibility of the trustees who are elected and co-opted under the terms of the Articles of Association.
Additional Note
The charity has a chair, vice chair, treasurer and administrator. Two trustees are members of the board of the British Journal of Nursing Wound Care supplement. The WCAUK has both individual members and corporate members.  The corporate   members pay an annual fee, and the individual members have free membership until 2026 but pay a fee to attend the WCAUK conference. The charity is managed by a national committee which holds meetings on a quarterly basis and all decisions on policy require unanimous agreement.
Risk Management
The trustees have assessed major risks to which the charity is exposed and whilst adversley affected by the 2000 Covid pandemic, are satisfied that systems and procedures are in place to mitigate exposure to major risks.
