Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 30 April 2026

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates and other similar allowances. Sale of goods Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods has transferred to the buyer. This is usually at the point that the customer has signed for the delivery of the goods. Rendering of services Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs. Turnover is only recognised to the extent of recoverable expenses when the outcome of a contract cannot be estimated reliably.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases: Computer Equipment 33% Straight line

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

CUMNOR PARISH NEWS CIC

Company Number: 11961181 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 April 2026

Company activities and impact

The company publishes a 48 page Parish News magazine 10 times a year. The magazine contains a mix of articles covering local news, events, details of clubs and societies, quizzes and articles of general interest. It also includes advertisements for a wide variety of local service providers along with an indexed list of the local advertisers. Everything you need to know about the local area. It is distributed to local subscribers by a team of around 50 volunteers and is available for sale in local shops in Cumnor, Appleton and Botley including the Botley Library.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are the subscribers to the magazine, advertisers and visitors to the area who purchase the magazine. The directors of the company all live within the parish and volunteer their time and expertise. We also have 50 to 60 volunteer distributors. Comments (made to the committee, whether positive or negative) by subscribers about the contents of articles are discussed at meetings and acted upon. A few stakeholders live outside the distribution area and receive postal copies (at extra cost). Due to rising costs this year we consulted with the postal stakeholders to offer them a PDF copy at the same cost of a subscribed copy rather than pay the increased postage costs. For some this was acceptable, others preferred to pay the increased costs. An AGM was held on October 2nd 2026 to consult with stakeholders. The 2025/2026 accounts were approved at this meeting by the directors and stakeholders.

Directors' remuneration

No remuneration was received

Transfer of assets

No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
