During the financial year, we have worked closely with local authorities, charities and community organisations to provide accessible sporting activities, mentoring and personal development opportunities to individuals across the local community. While working with Basildon Council; we have delivered women's self-defence classes, helping participants develop confidence, personal safety awareness and practical self-defence skills. We also work with Active Essex for which we have delivered several community programmes, including the Holiday Activities and Food programme, providing children aged 5–15 from disadvantaged backgrounds with access to sporting activities, social interaction and nutritious meals during school holidays. We also work with local colleges to deliver Life Skills and Transitional Age programmes for young people aged 16–19, focusing on confidence, discipline, teamwork, personal development and preparation for adulthood. Through our partnership with the Active Essex Foundation, we provide free mentoring and one-to-one sessions for young offenders and young people at risk of offending. These sessions use sport and positive mentorship to encourage personal development, improve confidence and support positive behavioural changes. Additionally, we work with another charity supporting people with disabilities, to provide free, inclusive sporting classes. These sessions aim to improve physical wellbeing, encourage social interaction and ensure that individuals with disabilities have opportunities to participate in sport.
