CIC 34 — Community Interest Company Report

Company name: NMCWATCH:REGISTRANT CARE CIC

Company number: 12383189

Year ending: 31 January 2026

This report has been prepared in accordance with the Community Interest Company Regulations 2005 (simplified report).

Part 1 — General description of the company's activities and impact

Describe the activities the company has carried out during the year and how they have benefited the community.

We continue to support nurses, midwives and others (“Registrants”) who are subject to scrutiny by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) over their ability to carry out their roles properly (a “Fitness to Practice” enquiry – FtP). Usually, Registrants have no previous knowledge of the way that this scrutiny and assessment is carried out and lack both the practical skills to cope with the enquiry, and the stamina and resilience to face the often lengthy and adversarial process. We support them in understanding FtP and the best way to survive it, with the most suitable approaches and responses, so that – as far as possible – they maintain their own mental and financial well-being during the process and are feel able to return – where that is possible – to their health service jobs. We do this by • arranging for general online peer support from other Registrants, to share experiences and advice • matching some Registrants with people who have had similar experiences, for online or in-person sharing of information - as “Buddies”. • by creating relevant information material freely available on our website • by signposting to other organisations and companies who can provide specific tailored advice, especially where legal support at hearings or appeals is needed (over 80 Registrants a year are currently signposted in that way) • by providing help and making suitable links with health sector employers that help Registrants get back into appropriate roles in the health service after the regulatory process is over In addition, we make representations of various kinds that are intended to improve the way the Regulator (the NMC) carries out its operations. We point out its current long-term failure to achieve its planned targets on speed of decisions. We work with journalists, politicians and senior members of the nursing and midwifery professions to bring pressure for movement at the regulator towards a swifter, fairer and less unnecessarily stressful regulatory process.

Part 2 — Consultation with stakeholders

Has the company consulted its stakeholders during the year? true

Stakeholders: Associate Members of the Company

How they were consulted: Our primary stakeholders are the Registrants: nurses, midwives and others working throughout the UK . Communication with them – individually and with general information - is central to what we do. This is caried out almost entirely online, through our closed (and confidential) Facebook page, our website and in individual meetings using Zoom. During the year there are some 24,000 visits to our website. Our private Facebook page where Registrants can exchange experiences anonymously has 980 members as at 20th October, 2026 We currently have 400 Associate Members, Registrants who have a formal role within our Constitution. They receive an occasional emailed newsletter, and they are invited to an online Annual Forum (which last held on September 19th, 2025). At the Annual Forum they can discuss the work of NMCW with the Directors of the company, and they are able to elect Associate Members to membership of, and to roles on, our Executive Committee. We also have frequent meetings with people holding senior nursing and midwifery roles in the NHS, and we attend (in person where possible) all open meetings of the Council of the Regulator (The NMC).,
