THIS YEAR THE COMPANY HAS BEEN WORKING ON TWO MAJOR PROJECTS WITH COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE EAST MIDLANDS: 1. THE WELLINGBOROUGH BLACK HERITAGE AUDIO TRAIL: WE ENGAGED WITH MEMBERS OF THE AFRICAN-CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY IN THE TOWN TO RESEARCH AND UNCOVER THE STORY OF THE BLACK EXPERIENCE IN WELLINGBOROUGH. AN AUDIO TRAIL WAS CREATED FROM THIS THROUGH WORKING WITH A COMMUNITY CAST AND YOUNG MUSICAL COMPOSERS. 2. THE COLWICK WOODS AUDIO GUIDE PROJECT: THROUGH SUPPORT FROM THE NATIONAL LOTTERY HERITAGE FUND WE BEGAN WORK EXPLORING THE SOCIAL AND ECOLOGICAL HERITAGE OF COLWICK WOODS, THE LARGEST NATURE RESERVE IN NOTTINGHAM. THIS INCLUDED RUNNING FREE COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS IN A RANGE OF HERITAGE SKILLS, GATHERING MEMORIES FROM OLDER MEMBERS OF THE LOCAL AREA FOR DEPOSITION WITH NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ARCHIVES, TAKING SCHOOL AND YOUTH GROUPS ON TOURS OF THE WOODS, AND INTRODUCING ASYLUM SEEKING FAMILIES TO THE SITE. ALONGSIDE THESE TWO PROJECTS WE ALSO ENGAGED WITH A UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM RESEARCH PROJECT (A CROSS-SECTOR APPROACH TO ASSESSING THE NEEDS OF UNACCOMPANIED ASYLUM-SEEKING MINORS AND MARGINALISED YOUNG REFUGEES IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE) AND SUPPORTED THE PRODUCTION OF A COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE ABOUT THE LUDDITES (‘RIOT ACT’) AT THE RUDDINGTON FRAMEWORK KNITTERS MUSEUM. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN IN DISCUSSION WITH CO-PRODUCING A COMMUNITY HERITAGE PROJECT AT THE BROMLEY HOUSE LIBRARY IN NOTTINGHAM, AND A LARGE-SCALE COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE PROJECT FOR BURNTWOOD IN STAFFORDSHIRE.
WHILST THE COMPANY HAS NO SPECIFIC AND ONGOING STAKEHOLDERS EACH PROJECT THAT IS UNDERTAKEN IS DONE SO IN CONSULTATION WITH THOSE WHO HAVE A STAKE IN THE SPECIFIC PROJECT. IN THIS CASE THIS MEANS THAT WE HAVE: HELD MEETINGS WITH ALL OF OUR PARTNERS ON THE WELLINGBOROUGH BLACK HERITAGE AUDIO TRAIL TO ENSURE THE WIDEST LEVELS OF COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION. HELD REGULAR PLANNING MEETINGS WITH MEMBERS OF THE FRIENDS OF COLWICK WOODS IN THE DELIVERY OF THE COLWICK WOODS AUDIO GUIDE PROJECT.
