Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 30 June 2026

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Revenue from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs. Turnover is only recognised to the extent of recoverable expenses when the outcome of a contract cannot be estimated reliably.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

All fixed assets are initially recorded at cost. Property, plant and equipment is used in the company's principal activity for the production and supply of goods or for administrative purposes and is stated in the balance sheet under the historic cost model. This model requires the assets to be stated at cost less amounts in respect of depreciation and less any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is calculated so as to write off the cost of an asset, less its estimated residual value (which is the expected amount that would currently be obtained from disposal of an asset, after deducting the estimated costs of disposal, if the asset were already of the age and in the condition expected at the end of its useful life), over the useful economic life of the respective asset as follows:

    Other accounting policies

Foreign currency translation Transactions in foreign currencies are initially recognised at the rate of exchange ruling at the date of the transaction. At the end of each reporting period foreign currency monetary items are translated at the closing rate of exchange. Non-monetary items that are measured at historical cost are translated at the rate ruling at the date of the transaction. All differences are charged to profit or loss.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

FOCUS 4 1 CIC

Company Number: 09655774 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2026

Company activities and impact

During the year, Focus 4 1 CIC delivered a range of community-based activities aimed at improving well-being, reducing social isolation, and supporting personal development. Fortnightly peer-led groups provided opportunities for individuals to connect, build confidence, and improve their well-being through mindfulness sessions and creative activities, including creative writing, poetry, spoken word, and rap. We worked in partnership with South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust to deliver well-being support to Merton residents under the care of NHS Merton Talking Therapies. Through this partnership, the Company provided community-based well-being activities that supported mental health, encouraged social inclusion, and improved access to local sources of support. We also delivered a weekly Climate Hub project, which encouraged community engagement around environmental issues and sustainable living. In addition, the Company operated a Research Hub that engaged mental health service users in exploring issues affecting them engaging with research and developing future services. Focus 4 1 CIC benefited from capacity building support from the Lloyds Bank Foundation, including business development and organisational management support. During the year, the Focus 4 1 CIC strengthened its organisational capacity through the recruitment of a Chief Executive Officer and a Senior Lead. The Company also recruited six additional individuals to support the delivery and development of its activities. Training and induction of these new recruits will continue into the next reporting period.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Company's primary stakeholders are its service users and members, who are directly affected by and benefit from its activities. The Company consults with service users regularly through monthly member meetings and fortnightly group sessions, providing ongoing opportunities for feedback, discussion, and participation in decision making. Service users are encouraged to share their views on activities, identify emerging needs, and suggest improvements to services. Feedback from service users has informed the development and delivery of the Company's well-being groups, creative expression activities, Climate Hub project, and Research Hub. This feedback has helped ensure that activities remain responsive to the needs and interests of the community and continue to deliver meaningful community benefit.
