  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover comprises income from services and community activities provided by Fruitful Orchard CIC, together with grant funding recognised during the financial year. Grant funding is applied to the specific community projects for which it was awarded. Where the conditions for recognising funding as income have not been met at the financial year end, the relevant amount is deferred and carried forward to the following financial period. These funds remain allocated to the continuation or completion of the designated projects, in accordance with the terms and intended purpose of each grant.

Company activities and impact

Fruitful Orchard CIC designs and facilitates nature-based projects to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of marginalised families in London, Essex and surrounding areas. Our key initiatives include social and wellbeing activities in nature, subsidised / free workshops, and nature-based training programmes that encourage families to connect with the environment, learn practical skills, and build confidence in sustainable living. We made a positive impact by: Sailing Programme - We partnered up with a local sailing club to facilitate a sailing course for children 8 - 14. 40 children went on to study the RYA syllabus and completed with a certificate up to Stage 2. Orchard - Designing a permanent site for a community orchard. New Horse Stables - Relocated to a bigger site that has an indoor school. This allows more children classes and not limited by weather. In addition, we delivered subsidised workshops and training focused on food growing in in home gardens and in orchard management to support families to live more sustainably. We also had our annual pumpkin festival, cherry and apple picking activities, which encouraged community connection, healthy eating, and time spent in nature. Through these initiatives, Fruitful Orchard CIC continues to promote inclusion, wellbeing, and environmental awareness among families who might otherwise face barriers to accessing nature and outdoor activities.

Consultation with stakeholders

Consultations with stakeholders have highlighted key areas of interest and need, including stable management courses for both children and adults A continuous weekly sailing programme and training for higher stages. Involvement in developing the community orchard. Seasonal fruit-picking and harvest activities during the autumn months.
