During the financial year, Cornwall Games CIC continued to strengthen and promote Cornwall's games development sector by supporting collaboration, professional development and industry growth. The company's activities benefited the community in the following ways: - continued to grow its online community, increasing membership on Discord and providing an accessible space where game developers, studios, freelancers and students can network, exchange knowledge, collaborate on projects and access peer support, - undertook the Cornish Games Industry Data initiative and published the Cornish Games Industry Report, creating an evidence base that supports funding applications, informs policy discussions and raises the profile of Cornwall's games industry - represented Cornwall's games sector at Imagination Unleashed 2026, showcasing games developed by Cornish studios and helping to increase the visibility of local developers while creating opportunities for networking, collaboration and knowledge exchange, - applied for a range of grant funding opportunities to secure future investment that will enable the CIC to expand its support for Cornwall's games development community and deliver larger community initiatives, - welcomed its first paid subscriber, helping to establish a sustainable income stream to support the CIC's long-term community objectives, - strengthened the organisation through the appointment of an additional director from a local game development company, increasing the CIC's capacity, industry expertise and connections across Cornwall's games sector, - began planning and organising the next Cornwall Games community event, building partnerships and laying the foundations for a significantly larger event to provide further opportunities for learning, collaboration and professional development
Cornwall Games CIC's primary stakeholders are composed of three video game development companies and include individual game developers, studios, freelancers, partner organisations, educational institutions, local authorities, and the wider community in Cornwall with an interest in the games development sector. We actively engaged with these stakeholders through our growing Discord community, direct conversations with members, industry events, and ongoing collaboration with partner organisations. During the financial year, we undertook the Cornish Games Industry Data initiative, consulting with developers, studios, freelancers and other industry professionals across Cornwall to gather evidence on the size, economic contribution and needs of the local games sector. The findings informed the publication of the Cornish Games Industry Report, providing an evidence base to support funding opportunities, advocacy and strategic development for the sector. We also continued to consult with key regional stakeholders, including Screen Cornwall, Falmouth University, Cornwall Council and Createch Cornwall, helping to align our activities with wider creative and economic development strategies across the county. Cornwall Games participated in Imagination Unleashed 2026, where we showcased games developed by Cornish studios and engaged with developers, businesses and creative technology partners to gather feedback, strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for future collaboration. In addition, a director attended Develop, networking with developers, studios and industry organisations from across the UK. Feedback and insights gathered through these consultations have informed the planning of future community events, professional development opportunities and initiatives to support the continued growth of Cornwall's games industry.
