COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

FIELD STUDIES IRELAND CIC

Company Number: NI675729 (Northern Ireland)

Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

The objects of the Company are to carry out activities which benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) individuals of all ages, abilities, gender, religion and cultural background who can potentially benefit from access to high quality outdoor field studies and educational experiences across the island of Ireland. This is performed through place-based programmes, educational resources and professional services; and to the overall enhancement of community well-being as a consequence. Much of this is generated through the provision of educational programmes and experiences for schools and other community groups. This is a particularly rewarding element of the company’s activities because it offers the opportunity to introduce younger people to the environment, to help them appreciate and understand the importance of sustainability, the impact we have on it and the wider benefits a healthy environment can provide to the whole community. The company continues to foster good relationships with local schools and this is evidenced through the number of repeat programmes that are run. The directors believe that over time, a generation of school children will develop an understanding and appreciation of the range of benefits that a healthy environment provides, and hence the importance of preservation and sustainability. As each year passes, the outreach of the company continues to grow which is evidenced by increasing activity levels. The directors are confident that this will generate more interest from various stakeholders, which will open up further pathways for grant funding opportunities. In the year to 31st January 2026, some of the facilities previously utilised by the company in its programme activities were temporarily closed for renovation purposes. The closure lasted longer than originally anticipated which resulted in some of the activities having to be cancelled or curtailed. This resulted in a reduction in income, and occasionally additional costs in trying to source alterative premises. The directors are pleased to report that results for the incoming year are more encouraging.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are individuals of all ages, abilities, gender, religion and cultural background who can potentially benefit from access to high quality, outdoor field studies and educational experiences across the island of Ireland. The company has regularly engaged with these stakeholders through many events, consultations and projects, and further training, events, projects, support have been actioned following such engagements. The company requests attendees to provide feedback on the courses and activities, and reviews the survey results to tailor and enhance the educational courses. The directors are pleased with the overwhelmingly positive feedback the company receives, which the number of repeat bookings pays testament to.

Directors' remuneration

Directors’ remuneration totalled £50,000 for the year to 31st January 2026. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
