As last year, pursuit of the Company’s objects, with its inherent community benefits, depends on successfully developing its planned cohousing scheme. The company’s primary task, therefore, continues to be to develop a cohousing scheme for over 50s. During the year we made significant progress. Working with the developer TOWN and with the Milton Keynes City Council (MKCC) in March 2026 the go ahead for the overall ‘Love Wolverton’ Agora Regeneration project was secured, of which Still Green’s cohousing community will be a part. Shortly afterwards the build contract was agreed and in July 2026 work on the overall site recommenced. By the end of September work had begun on the site for the Still Green block with an estimated completion date of the second half of 2028.
Membership: we now have 20 of the 29 homes initially reserved by committed members and a total of 26 committed reserved members. Our wider membership currently stands at 43. Active involvement of members is essential for the operation of the organisation. The Board not only consults members continuously through formal and informal processes, members guide the work of the board in many ways, including regular meetings, working group meetings and email notices and exchanges. Despite having a number of our members living in other parts of England and even overseas, we continue to have good attendance at our regular meetings and we also use zoom for our January AGM and ad hoc, single issue, buddy group and working groups meetings. We continue to reach out to find new members wishing to join a cohousing community and reserve an apartment. This was achieved by promoting our project through the UK Cohousing Network, via our website and social media and by our outreach to local organisations. We have this year made more opportunities for enquirers to meet with us, with not just our physical quarterly meetings but monthly on-line meetings, an opportunity to meet us at the monthly Wolverton market and an opportunity for Wolverton walks to see the site and get to know us and discuss the project. A steady stream of interest continues from people looking to downsize and find a home in a supportive community. Other Stakeholders: our principal stakeholders are our members and the developer TOWN and the MKCC. We are members of the Milton Keynes Climate Action Network and of the Milton Keynes Civic Forum and active participants in the Wolverton Agora Regeneration Group and support such organisations as Trubys Garden, Future Wolverton and faith groups. Members continue to participate in a range of meetings with public and civil society organisations in the area, in order to raise awareness and the profile of cohousing for those considering their housing options for retirement and their later years. Community benefits include sharing our growing experience with less advanced projects and individuals considering co-housing; sharing information and documents with other cohousing groups through our website and the national cohousing network cohousing cafes; and making increased use of social media to promote our meeting opportunities, our project and awareness of cohousing in general.
