MONSTER MEDIA AGENCY LTD

Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 31 January 2026

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is the fair value of advertising and media services provided (AdVan and AdBike campaigns and third-party out-of-home media), excluding VAT, recognised as the campaign is delivered. Amounts invoiced before delivery are deferred as income in advance; services delivered but not yet invoiced are accrued.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost, including irrecoverable VAT, less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation writes off cost less residual value over useful life, time-apportioned in the year of acquisition: plant and machinery: AdVans (chassis, AdVan builds, LED screens and generators) 15% reducing balance, other vans and AdBikes 25% reducing balance; motor vehicles 25% reducing balance; office (computer) equipment 33 1/3% reducing balance. Change in accounting estimate: from 1 February 2025 the rate for AdVans was changed from 25% to 15% reducing balance, to reflect the director's revised estimate of their useful economic lives and residual values. The change is applied from that date and earlier years are not restated; it reduced the depreciation charge for the year by £7,919. Gains and losses on disposal are recognised in profit or loss. Assets held under hire purchase are capitalised and the obligation is shown as a liability at amortised cost.

    Other accounting policies

Company information: Monster Media Agency Ltd is a private company limited by shares, registered in England and Wales, number 11769674; registered office 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE. Its issued share capital is one ordinary share of £1, fully paid. Its principal activity is out-of-home advertising. Basis of preparation: the financial statements are prepared under the historical cost convention, in sterling, rounded to the nearest pound. They are the company's first financial statements under FRS 102 Section 1A; the previous financial statements (year ended 31 January 2025) were prepared under FRS 105 using the micro-entity formats. The balance sheet is now presented in the Section 1A format because the company now reports under FRS 102 Section 1A, and the comparative figures have been restated on the same basis. The date of transition to FRS 102 is 1 February 2024. Going concern: at 31 January 2026 the company had net assets of £98,509 and net current assets of £38,382. Since the year end the company has continued to trade and to pay its hire purchase instalments as they fall due. Having considered its liabilities, its finance commitments and the amount owed by the director, the director is satisfied that the company has adequate resources for at least twelve months from the date of approval, so the going concern basis is used. Financial instruments: the company has only basic financial instruments. Debtors are measured at transaction price less impairment, recognised when there is objective evidence that an amount will not be recovered; creditors and loans at transaction price or amortised cost. Hire purchase finance charges are allocated over the term at a constant rate on the outstanding balance. Foreign currency transactions are translated at the rate on the transaction date and monetary items at the year-end rate. Current asset investments (gold proof coins) are stated at the lower of cost and net realisable value. Taxation: current tax is the amount expected to be paid or recovered; deferred tax is provided on timing differences (mainly accelerated capital allowances, net of unused tax losses) at 25%. Dividends are recognised when paid. Key estimates: the principal estimates are the useful lives and residual values of tangible fixed assets, the measurement of hire purchase liabilities, and current and deferred tax. Prior-period errors and restatement (FRS 102 paragraph 10.21) and transition to FRS 102 (Section 35): the comparative figures have been restated to correct errors in the accounting records of earlier years and on transition to FRS 102, so the 2025 balance sheet is not comparable with the balance sheet previously filed. The corrections are: release of a historic control account balance; reversal of year-end journals dated 31 December 2024 and restoration of the balances they had moved; removal of a duplicated supplier invoice (with the related asset and depreciation) and of a cancelled supplier order; write-off of card control account balances not supported by transactions and of customer deposits not received; accrual of hire purchase and loan interest previously treated as capital; depreciation for January 2025; removal of amounts of £73,033 recorded as due from a company under common control that were not recoverable (of which £32,014 relates to income recorded in the year ended 31 January 2024); recharge at cost to a company under common control of an LED screen set paid for on its behalf (cost £22,822); corrections to the director's loan account; reversal of the 2025 corporation tax provision; and provision for deferred tax, which was not recognised under FRS 105.
