Notes to the Financial Statements
1. General Information
Fragrant Knives Ltd is a private company, limited by shares, incorporated in England & Wales, registered number 15398675 . The registered office is 119 Uxbridge Road, Rickmansworth, WD3 7DN.
2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 section 1A Small Entities "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Companies Act 2006.
The functional and presentation currency of the company is the Pound Sterling.
2.2. Going Concern Disclosure
The directors have considered the company’s financial position and business plans. The company has developed a strong product and is in the early stages of commercialisation. The directors acknowledge that the business remains dependent on achieving forecast sales and on securing additional funding to support ongoing operations.
Based on these plans and actions being taken, the directors believe that the going concern basis of preparation remains appropriate. However, they note that this dependency represents a material uncertainty that may cast significant doubt over the company’s ability to continue as a going concern.
2.3. Turnover
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates and other similar allowances.
Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods has transferred to the buyer. This is usually at the point that the goods have been delivered to the customer.
2.4. Stocks and Work in Progress
Stocks and work in progress are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value after making due allowance for obsolete and slow-moving stocks. Cost includes all direct costs and an appropriate proportion of fixed and variable overheads. Work-in-progress is reflected in the accounts on a contract by contract basis by recording turnover and related costs as contract activity progresses.
2.5. Financial Instruments
The company has chosen to adopt sections 11 and 12 of FRS 102 in respect of financial instruments. Basic financial assets, including trade and other receivables, cash and bank balances, are initially recognised at transaction price, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the transaction is measured at the present value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest. Such assets are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective interest method. Basic financial liabilities, including trade and other payables, and bank loans, are initially recognised at transaction price, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument is measured at the present value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest.
