The company's activities benefited the community by improving access to career opportunities for young people aged 16–18, particularly those from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds. Through The Apprentice Advantage (TAA), we delivered careers education, apprenticeship workshops, assemblies and mentoring programmes designed to help students understand the full range of post-16 pathways and make informed decisions about their futures. Our activities focused on three key areas: - Improving awareness and access: Helping students understand degree and higher apprenticeships as a credible alternative to university, including the opportunities, entry requirements and recruitment processes involved. - Developing employability skills: Equipping students with practical skills and knowledge to navigate competitive recruitment processes, including CV writing, applications, interviews and assessment centres. - Providing access to role models and networks: Connecting students with current and former apprentices who shared their experiences, provided practical advice and helped make professional career pathways more accessible. During the financial year, we supported over 200 young people through our programmes and wider outreach. Feedback from our delivery showed that 80% of participating students felt significantly more prepared to pursue apprenticeship opportunities. Ultimately, our work aims to reduce inequalities in access to professional careers, widen participation in apprenticeships and ensure that a young person's background does not limit their understanding of, or access to, future opportunities.
