Black Lives Natter CIC is a London-based community arts organisation providing free and low-cost creative opportunities, with a particular focus on Black and Global Majority individuals and communities who face barriers to accessing arts and cultural activities. During the financial year, the company's SpeakEasy programme benefited the community in the following ways: SpeakEasy Po'JaM (Poetry Jam): Provided an affordable and inclusive platform for emerging and established poets, spoken word artists and performers to share their work, develop confidence and connect with audiences. Pop-up Community Bookshop: Promoted literature, reading and access to books, particularly works by Black and Global Majority authors, while creating opportunities for community engagement and cultural exchange. Community Drop-in: Provided a welcoming and accessible space for individuals to gather, connect, share experiences and build relationships, helping to reduce social isolation and strengthen community connections. Page-to-Stage Writing Workshops: Offered accessible creative writing and performance development opportunities, supporting individuals to develop their skills, explore self-expression and build confidence in their creative abilities. Through these activities, Black Lives Natter CIC helped reduce financial and social barriers to arts participation, increased opportunities for underrepresented creatives and brought together diverse communities through literature, creativity and conversation. The programme also supported community well-being by providing inclusive spaces where individuals could participate in cultural activities, develop connections and feel represented.
Yes. Black Lives Natter CIC consults with its stakeholders, including artists, writers, performers, event participants, community members and its venue partner, Theatre Deli. Stakeholders are consulted through feedback forms, online feedback opportunities provided at events, and ongoing discussions with Theatre Deli regarding programme delivery, accessibility, community engagement and partnership working. Feedback is used to inform the development and delivery of the organisation's activities, including its SpeakEasy programme, community bookshop, drop-in sessions and Page-to-Stage writing workshops. The organisation seeks to provide accessible, inclusive and affordable opportunities that respond to the needs and interests of its communities. However, the organisation's ability to respond to all suggestions, particularly those requiring additional expenditure or expanded provision, is limited by the lack of secured core funding. As a small, voluntarily run CIC, Black Lives Natter continues to consider stakeholder feedback within its available financial and operational resources while seeking sustainable funding to support its future development.
