  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

    Other accounting policies

Debtors Short term debtors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price), less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method, less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Creditors Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price). Loans and other financial liabilities are initially recognised at transaction price net of any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

JOSHY BOY LEGACY CIC

Company Number: 15902020 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2026

Company activities and impact

Joshy Boy Legacy CIC (JBL) is a community-interest company dedicated to supporting fami-lies of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with a particular focus on migrant and low-income households in Southwark, Lewisham, and Lambeth. Our activities centre on three main strands: - Family Support & Advocacy: Providing practical guidance on housing, education, and welfare rights, including help with EHCP applications, disability benefits, and navigating local authority systems. - Health & Wellbeing Programmes: Delivering workshops, peer-to-peer groups, food support, and physical activity programmes such as the Dad2Dad Wellbeing Hubs, de-signed to reduce isolation, improve resilience, and strengthen family networks. - Community Engagement & Empowerment: Creating safe, inclusive spaces for par-ents and carers to share experiences, access culturally relevant resources, and build confidence to advocate for their children. Impact: Through our initiatives, we have reduced isolation for fathers and carers, improved access to nutritious food and health resources, and strengthened knowledge of rights and entitle-ments. Our work also helps to break down stigma around disability within migrant communi-ties and promotes social inclusion. In our first year, JBL supported over 100 families, launched a local food support initiative, and built strong partnerships with grassroots organi-sations and funders. By combining advocacy, wellbeing, and practical support, JBL empowers families to thrive, while creating long-term positive change in the community.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders include: -Parents and Carers of children with SEND (especially migrant families) -Children and Young People with SEND -Local Authorities and Schools (working with SEN departments, social care, and hous-ing teams) -Community Organisations and Faith Groups -Funders and Partner Charities -Volunteers and Staff Consultation: We consult stakeholders through surveys, one-to-one conversations, focus groups, community events, and feedback sessions at our workshops and support hubs. Par-ents and carers are encouraged to share their experiences and identify gaps in services. We also liaise regularly with local councils, schools, and grassroots partners to align our services with community needs. Actions Taken: -Feedback highlighted that fathers often feel overlooked in SEND support; in response, we launched the Dad2Dad Wellbeing Hubs to create safe spaces for fathers and carers. -Families told us that food insecurity was a major concern; we developed food support and SEND-friendly nutrition workshops. -Parents requested clearer housing and benefits advice; we partnered with legal advi-sors and housing advocates to integrate this into our programmes. -Ongoing feedback on accessibility has shaped our events, ensuring venues, resources, and communications are inclusive and culturally sensitive. By actively listening and responding, JBL ensures that its programmes remain community-led and impactful.
