During our first financial year, Ember & Blossom Community Interest Company worked to reduce loneliness, social isolation and financial hardship by bringing people together through community events, creative activities and practical support. Our main project was Fleetwood's free Community Christmas Day Dinner in December 2025, which welcomed approximately 250 guests, including older people living alone, families experiencing financial difficulties and people who might otherwise have spent Christmas without company. The event provided a freshly prepared Christmas meal, a welcoming environment and opportunities for meaningful social connection, without any charge to guests. The dinner was made possible through the generosity of local businesses, donors and volunteers. It strengthened community relationships, encouraged volunteering and helped people feel included, supported and valued. We also secured funding to support warm spaces and vulnerable households in our community, helping us develop accessible, welcoming opportunities for people experiencing isolation or hardship. Through our activities, we have brought together people from different backgrounds and generations, strengthened local partnerships and demonstrated how community-led initiatives can make a meaningful difference to people's wellbeing. Our work is guided by the belief that everyone deserves connection, kindness and a sense of belonging, regardless of their circumstances.
During the financial year, Ember & Blossom CIC engaged with local residents, Christmas Day Dinner guests, volunteers, community organisations and local businesses. Consultation took place through face-to-face conversations, community meetings, volunteer discussions and direct feedback from people attending or supporting our activities. Feedback highlighted the importance of reducing loneliness, providing accessible community events and creating welcoming spaces where people feel included and supported. We used this feedback to help shape our Christmas Day Dinner, including arrangements for guests, volunteer support and making the event welcoming to people of different ages, backgrounds and circumstances. We continue to listen to our community to ensure our activities respond to local needs.
