ENYO Foundation is a community-focused organisation dedicated to increasing participation, accessibility and opportunities for women and girls in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and grappling. Our aim is to remove financial, social and practical barriers that may prevent women and girls from accessing the sport, while creating safe, welcoming and supportive environments in which they can develop confidence, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, and build lasting friendships. Our activities include: Free Women's BJJ Courses: We organise and deliver free 6 to 8 week women-only BJJ courses for those aged 14 and over. These courses introduce participants to the sport in a welcoming and supportive environment, regardless of their previous experience or fitness levels. Participants are provided with free training kit at the end of their course, and we work with local gyms to offer discounted memberships for those wishing to continue training, helping to make long-term participation more affordable. Women's Open Mats: We organise women-only open mat sessions, bringing together women of different ages, backgrounds, abilities and experience levels. These sessions provide a safe and inclusive space for women to train together, share knowledge, develop friendships and support one another within the sport. Affordable Seminars: We arrange women-only seminars led by professional female athletes, offering high-quality coaching and opportunities to learn from experienced competitors and role models. These seminars are offered at reduced prices to make specialist coaching more accessible. Competition Support: We provide financial assistance towards competition entry fees, helping women and girls access competitive opportunities that may otherwise be financially out of reach. Through these activities, ENYO Foundation has helped create opportunities for women and girls to participate in martial arts, develop new skills, build confidence and become part of a supportive community. By reducing financial barriers and working alongside gyms, coaches and athletes, we aim to encourage long-term participation and contribute towards greater female representation and equality within Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
ENYO Foundation's key stakeholders include women and girls participating in our activities, local martial arts clubs and gyms, coaches, professional athletes, volunteers and the wider Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community. We engage with stakeholders through direct conversations with participants, feedback during and following courses, open mats and seminars, and ongoing communication with the gyms and coaches we work alongside. This engagement helps us understand the barriers women and girls face when accessing martial arts, particularly around affordability, confidence, access to female training partners and opportunities for continued participation. In response to the needs identified through these conversations, we have focused on providing free introductory courses, free training equipment, discounted gym memberships, affordable seminars and financial assistance with competition fees. We also continue to provide women-only training opportunities to create welcoming environments where participants feel comfortable, supported and encouraged to develop. Feedback from participants and partner organisations helps guide our activities and ensures that our work remains relevant, accessible and beneficial to the communities we support.
During the financial year, two directors received remuneration for work undertaken on behalf of ENYO Foundation. This included administrative duties relating to the organisation and delivery of community activities, as well as coaching services provided during women's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu courses. These payments were made in recognition of the time and services provided in delivering the Foundation's community objectives.
During the financial year, ENYO Foundation provided free Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gis and belts to participants upon completion of our women-only introductory courses. These items were provided at no cost to participants to remove financial barriers and encourage continued participation in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. By providing essential training equipment, we aim to make the sport more accessible and support women and girls in continuing their training beyond their initial course. The total estimated value of equipment provided during the financial year was £3288.
