THE SOMA COLLECTIVE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Directors' report period ended 31 January 2026

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 January 2026

Principal activities of the company

Over this period we unfortunately could not put on The Soma Festival as usual due to funding issues, so we decided instead to use our skills and principal areas of expertise to put on concerts and a community market to help raise funds for those in need in Gaza. We chose this cause because we recognise how dire the humanitarian situation in Gaza is and we wanted to help in any way we could. We collaborated with Mothers Against Genocide for our market and Irish Artists for Palestine for our concerts. The events were a great success, with hundreds of people turning out to show their support and enjoy the live music, arts, crafts and local produce on offer. We held a Christmas market in December with the same aims and it was another great success.

Political and charitable donations

We donated moneys raised from our concerts and community market to the charitable organisations Irish Artists for Palestine and Glor na Mona.

Company activities and impact

In 2025, we held concerts and a market over our usual Soma Festival dates in July to help raise money for those in need in Gaza. This benefitted the community as it brought the locality together through love of music, arts, crafts and local produce. There was an enormous sense of good will and generosity of spirit on display at these events. The success of our market in particular, which included a lineup of local musicians, was such that we decided to host a Christmas community market fundraiser in December. This was also to help those in need in Gaza and was another great day of community togetherness.
