Notes to the Financial Statements
1. General Information
Castle (Donington) Developments Ltd is a private company, limited by shares, incorporated in England & Wales, registered number 08188326 . The registered office is 54 Muswell Hill Road, London, N10 3JR.
2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102, including the provisions of Section 1A applicable to small entities, and the requirements of the Companies Act 2006.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, modified to include investment properties measured at fair value. The financial statements are presented in sterling, which is the company's functional currency.
2.2. Going Concern Disclosure
The company is financially supported by its directors, who have confirmed that they do not intend to seek repayment of amounts owed to them for the foreseeable future.
Having considered the company's financial position and the continued availability of this support, the directors are satisfied that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Accordingly, the financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis.
2.3. Significant judgements and estimations
In preparing the financial statements, the directors have made judgements, estimates and assumptions in applying the company's accounting policies and determining the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities. These estimates are reviewed on an ongoing basis and revised where appropriate.
Investment Property Valuation
The directors exercise judgement in determining the fair value of investment properties, taking into account available market evidence and the specific characteristics of each property. Actual values realised may differ from these estimates.
2.4. Turnover
Turnover represents rental income receivable from the letting of properties during the year.
2.5. Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are initially recognised at cost and subsequently measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. The carrying amounts of tangible fixed assets are reviewed at each reporting date for indications of impairment. Any impairment losses are recognised in the profit and loss account. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases:
Plant & Machinery 3 years straight line
2.6. Investment Properties
Investment properties are initially recognised at cost and subsequently measured at fair value at each reporting date. Changes in fair value are recognised in the profit and loss account. No depreciation is charged on investment properties measured at fair value.
2.7. Taxation
Corporation tax expense represents the sum of the tax currently payable and deferred tax.
The tax currently payable is based on taxable profit for the year. Taxable profit differs from profit as reported in the statement of comprehensive income because of items of income or expense that are taxable or deductible in other years and items that are never taxable or deductible. The company's liability for current tax is calculated using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period.
Deferred tax is recognised on timing differences between the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities in the financial statements and the corresponding tax bases used in the computation of taxable profit. Deferred tax liabilities are generally recognised for all taxable timing differences. Deferred tax assets are generally recognised for all deductible timing differences to the extent that it is probable that taxable profits will be available against which those deductible timing differences can be utilised. The carrying amount of deferred tax assets is reviewed at the end of each reporting period and reduced to the extent that it is no longer probable that sufficient taxable profits will be available to allow all or part of the asset to be recovered.

2.7. Taxation - continued
Deferred tax assets and liabilities are measured at the tax rates that are expected to apply in the period in which the liability is settled or the asset realised, based on tax rates (and tax laws) that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period. Deferred tax liabilities are presented within provisions for liabilities and deferred tax assets within debtors. The measurement of deferred tax liabilities and assets reflect the tax consequences that would follow from the manner in which the Company expects, at the end of the reporting period, to recover or settle the carrying amount of its assets and liabilities.
Current and deferred tax are recognised in profit or loss for the year, except when they relate to items that are recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity, in which case current and deferred tax are recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity respectively.
2.8. Pensions
The company operates a defined pension contribution scheme. Contributions are charged to the profit and loss account as they become payable in accordance with the rules of the scheme.

Financial assets and liabilities are offset only where the company has a legally enforceable right of set-off and intends to settle on a net basis or simultaneously realise the asset and settle the liability.
