Company activities and impact

The company’s activities have continued to provide benefit to residents in the Custom House and Canning Town Wards of the London Borough of Newham, by developing residents’ skills, capacity, relationships, and access to resources in such a way that they are better able to identify and help meet their needs and collectively address core issues which their community faces. Community Meals and Celebrations We’ve continued to host community meals throughout the year, with these events increasing the accessibility of affordable, nutritious food in the community and providing much needed, freely accessible social spaces in the local area. Safer, secure homes for everyone in the community Through our Housing Club events, we continued to support our members with taking collective action to hold Newham Council to account for the delivery of a promised refurbishment scheme and general repairs to homes in the area. We continued to monitor progress of the programme and escalate issues that residents had so that they were resolved efficiently. This work also brought residents and families to our housing drop-in advice sessions over the course of the year. Creating community spaces During the year we collaborated with E16 CLT and Young Minds to successfully fundraise and secure the donation of an RHS community garden. The FDR community garden was due to open in August 2026. We continue to apply for funding to maintain our activities and support for our members into the next financial year.
