The Company board meets regularly to discuss the risks and uncertainties the Group faces. 

Financial key performance indicators
 
Monthly management accounts are prepared and shown to the board. The directors review the monthly management accounts looking at turnover, gross profit and net profit as the KPIs.

Chair and CEO statement

FY25 was a year of significant progress and renewed purpose for the DMA, as we continued to deliver on our mission to empower all marketers to do data right. Through shaping policy and regulation to driving best practice and professional development, we focused on setting, teaching and promoting the standard for responsible, results driven marketing.

As the backbone of UK marketing, the DMA unites agencies, brands and marketing service providers to raise standards, build trust and champion the value of marketing to business and society.

A defining moment of the year was the passing of the Data Use and Access Bill - a landmark achievement following years of sustained engagement across government and industry. The DMA played a pivotal role in shaping reforms that balance innovation and privacy, giving organisations greater clarity and confidence to grow responsibly. This outcome reinforces our reputation as a trusted partner in creating the right environment for sustainable marketing growth.

In this regard the DMA Code has never been more vital. In an era of data breaches, cyber threats and misinformation, trust is the currency of marketing. Without it, data is meaningless; with it, data fuels innovation, customer loyalty and economic growth. The DMA Code remains the ethical framework - and practical guide - that enables our members to innovate with confidence while protecting customers. It is what transforms marketing into a force for good.

We also strengthened our commitment to the people who power our industry through the introduction of a new People Principle to the DMA Code. In an age of automation and AI, we believe that human creativity, empathy and ethical judgement remain irreplaceable. The new principle highlights the importance of diversity, inclusion and continuous professional development as the foundations of customer-centric marketing.

That belief in people is also central to our role in upskilling the marketing profession. FY 25 saw the completion of our government-backed Digital Skills Bootcamp programme. We underwent our first Ofsted inspection and were rated Good across all areas - a tremendous achievement for an organisation that is much broader than a traditional education provider. This endorsement reflects the rigour and quality of our IDM accredited training programmes.

During the year, we continued to enhance our thought leadership and industry guidance, drawing on insight from the DMA Effectiveness Databank, and publishing new reports such as The Value of Customer Data and The Value of Marketing Automation. We also saw continued growth in the DMA Awards programme, which remains the benchmark for creative excellence, effectiveness and integrity in UK marketing. Its commitment to rigour, transparency and measurable outcomes ensures it continues to celebrate the very best in data-driven creativity - inspiring the industry to aim higher every year.

The year ahead will build on these foundations as we continue to champion responsible, creative and effective marketing for our members and help our members and the data and marketing industry navigate through the new challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. 

We would like to thank all our members who enable the DMA to ensure that the UKs' data and marketing industry leads the country and the world in building trust with customers. 

We also thank our committed Board members and our brilliantly engaged councils and committees as well as all the team at the DMA for all their hard work and commitment during the year.

DIRECTORS' REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025

The directors present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025.

Principal activities

The Data and Marketing Association Limited (DMA): the principal trade association for companies and organisations involved in the direct marketing industry in the United Kingdom. 

Institute of Data and Marketing Limited (IDM): provision of direct, digital and data marketing training and education services. 

IDM Membership Limited (IDMM): involved in the promotion of professional standards amongst direct, digital and data marketing professionals by the provision of membership services available only to those professionals who meet the criteria set down for qualification by education and experience to abide by the code of conduct for members. 

The Telephone Preference Service Limited (TPS): management of the register of telephone and fax numbers of individuals who do not wish to receive direct marketing telephone calls and faxes, under a contract with the Information Commissioner’s Office. The current contract is due for renewal in January 2028.

Directors' responsibilities statement

The directors are responsible for preparing the Group strategic report, the Directors' report and the consolidated financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
 
Company law requires the directors to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under that law the directors have elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice), including Financial Reporting Standard 102 ‘The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland'. Under company law the directors must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Company and the Group and of the profit or loss of the Group for that period.

 In preparing these financial statements, the directors are required to:


select suitable accounting policies for the Group's financial statements and then apply them consistently;

make judgments and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Group will continue in business.

The directors are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the Company's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Company and the Group and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Company and the Group and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Results

The loss for the year, after taxation, amounted to £298,215 (2024 - loss £154,520).

Opinion


We have audited the financial statements of Data and Marketing Association Limited (the ' Company') and its subsidiaries (the 'Group') for the year ended 31 March 2025, which comprise the Consolidated statement of income and retained earnings, the , the Consolidated Balance Sheet, the Company Balance Sheet, the Consolidated Statement of Cash Flows and the related notes, including a summary of significant accounting policiesThe financial reporting framework that has been applied in their preparation is applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards, including Financial Reporting Standard 102 ‘The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).


In our opinion the financial statements:


give a true and fair view of the state of the Group's and of the  Company's affairs as at 31 March 2025 and of the Group's loss for the year then ended;
have been properly prepared in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice; and
have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006.


Basis for opinion


We conducted our audit in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (UK) (ISAs (UK)) and applicable law. Our responsibilities under those standards are further described in the Auditor's responsibilities for the audit of the financial statements section of our report. We are independent of the Group in accordance with the ethical requirements that are relevant to our audit of the financial statements in the United Kingdom, including the Financial Reporting Council's Ethical Standard and we have fulfilled our other ethical responsibilities in accordance with these requirements. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion.


Conclusions relating to going concern


In auditing the financial statements, we have concluded that the directors' use of the going concern basis of accounting in the preparation of the financial statements is appropriate.


Based on the work we have performed, we have not identified any material uncertainties relating to events or conditions that, individually or collectively, may cast significant doubt on the Group's or the  Company's ability to continue as a going concern for a period of at least twelve months from when the financial statements are authorised for issue.

If, based on the work we have performed, we conclude that there is a material misstatement of this other information, we are required to report that fact.

In our opinion, based on the work undertaken in the course of the audit:


the information given in the Group strategic report and the Directors' report for the financial year for which the financial statements are prepared is consistent with the financial statements; and
the Group strategic report and the Directors' report have been prepared in accordance with applicable legal requirements.


Matters on which we are required to report by exception
 

In the light of the knowledge and understanding of the Group and the  Company and its environment obtained in the course of the audit, we have not identified material misstatements in the Group strategic report or the Directors' report.


We have nothing to report in respect of the following matters in relation to which the Companies Act 2006 requires us to report to you if, in our opinion:


adequate accounting records have not been kept by the  Company, or returns adequate for our audit have not been received from branches not visited by us; or
the  Company financial statements are not in agreement with the accounting records and returns; or
certain disclosures of directors' remuneration specified by law are not made; or
we have not received all the information and explanations we require for our audit.


Responsibilities of directors
 

As explained more fully in the Directors' responsibilities statement set out on page 3, the directors are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view, and for such internal control as the directors determine is necessary to enable the preparation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error.


In preparing the financial statements, the directors are responsible for assessing the Group's and the  Company's ability to continue as a going concern, disclosing, as applicable, matters related to going concern and using the going concern basis of accounting unless the directors either intend to liquidate the Group or the

Auditor's responsibilities for the audit of the financial statements
 

Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements as a whole are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an Auditor's report that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance, but is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with ISAs (UK) will always detect a material misstatement when it exists. Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are considered material if, individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably be expected to influence the economic decisions of users taken on the basis of these Group financial statements.


Irregularities, including fraud, are instances of non-compliance with laws and regulations. We design procedures in line with our responsibilities, outlined above, to detect material misstatements in respect of irregularities, including fraud. The extent to which our procedures are capable of detecting irregularities, including fraud is detailed below:

Our approach to identifying and assessing the risks of material misstatement in respect of irregularities, including fraud and non-compliance with laws and regulations, was as follows:
 
The engagement partner ensured that the engagement team collectively had the appropriate competence,
capabilities and skills to identify or recognise non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
We identified the laws and regulations applicable to the company through discussions with directors and
other management, and from our commercial knowledge and experience of the relevant sector;
We focused on specific laws and regulations, which we considered may have a direct material effect on the
financial statements or the operations of the company, including the Companies Act 2006 and ISO
standards;
We assessed the extent of compliance with laws and regulations identified above through making enquires
of management and inspecting legal correspondence and identified laws and regulations were
communicated within the audit team regularly and the team remained alert to instances of non-compliance
throughout the audit.

We assessed the susceptibility of the company’s financial statements to material misstatement, includingobtaining an understanding of how fraud might occur, by:

Making enquires of management as to where they considered there was susceptibility to fraud, their
knowledge of actual suspected and alleged fraud; and
Considering the internal controls in place to mitigate risks of fraud and non-compliance with laws and
regulations.

To address the risk of fraud through management bias and override of controls, we:

Performed analytical procedures to identify and unusual or unexpected relationships;
Tested journal entries to identify unusual transactions;
Assessed whether judgements and assumptions made in determining the accounting estimates were
indicative of potential bias; and
Investigated the rationale behind significant or unusual transactions.


Because of the inherent limitations of an audit, there is a risk that we will not detect all irregularities, including those leading to a material misstatement in the financial statements or non-compliance with regulation. This risk increases the more that compliance with a law or regulation is removed from the events and transactions

General information

The Data and Marketing Association Limited is a company incorporated in England & Wales under the Companies Act. The address of its registered office is1st Floor Rapier House, 40-46 Lamb’s Conduit Street, London, United Kingdom, WC1N 3LJ. The nature of the company's operations and its principal activities are set out in the directors' report. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

2.Accounting policies

 
2.1

Basis of preparation of financial statements

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention unless otherwise specified within these accounting policies and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland and the Companies Act 2006.

The preparation of financial statements in compliance with FRS 102 requires the use of certain critical accounting estimates. It also requires Group management to exercise judgment in applying the Group's accounting policies (see note 3).

The Company has taken advantage of the exemption allowed under section 408 of the Companies Act 2006 and has not presented its own Statement of income and retained earnings in these financial statements.

The following principal accounting policies have been applied:

 
2.2

Basis of consolidation

The consolidated financial statements present the results of the Company and its own subsidiaries ("the Group") as if they form a single entity. Intercompany transactions and balances between group companies are therefore eliminated in full.

The consolidated financial statements incorporate the results of business combinations using the purchase method. In the Balance sheet, the acquiree's identifiable assets, liabilities and contingent liabilities are initially recognised at their fair values at the acquisition date. The results of acquired operations are included in the Consolidated statement of income and retained earnings from the date on which control is obtained. They are deconsolidated from the date control ceases.

In accordance with the transitional exemption available in FRS 102, the Group has chosen not to retrospectively apply the standard to business combinations that occurred before the date of transition to FRS 102, being 01 April 2017.

Non-consolidation of subsidiaries

The following subsidiary companies of The Data and Marketing Association Limited and The Institute of Data and Marketing Limited have not been included in the consolidated accounts as the companies were deemed immaterial to the group:

2.3

Going concern

The directors have considered the impact on the ability of the Company and Group to continue as a Going Concern. In making their assessment the directors have prepared and critically reviewed the Company and Group's cash flow and management accounts forecast for the next 12 months and beyond and ensured that these forecasts are modelled on a suitably cautious basis. Despite the loss for the year and the balance sheet deficit the Group is forecast to return to profitability in the coming years partly to be achieved through significant expense savings notably though reduced headcount and savings in operational costs. Cash solvency remains strong, with Group cash balances at the time of finalising these financial statements in excess of £800k. As a result, the directors are confident that the Group and Company will be able to settle all liabilities as they fall due, in the normal course of business. Accordingly, the Group and Company have prepared these financial statements on a going concern basis. Further information on the outlook of the business can be seen in the commentary provided in the Strategic, Chairman’s and CEO’s reports included within the Group’s consolidated financial statements.

 
2.4

Revenue

Revenue is recognised to the extent that it is probable that the economic benefits will flow to the Group and the revenue can be reliably measured. Revenue is measured as the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. The following criteria must also be met before revenue is recognised:

Rendering of services

Revenue from a contract to provide services is recognised in the period in which the services are provided in accordance with the stage of completion of the contract when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
the amount of revenue can be measured reliably;
it is probable that the Group will receive the consideration due under the contract;
the stage of completion of the contract at the end of the reporting period can be measured reliably; and
the costs incurred and the costs to complete the contract can be measured reliably.

Intangible assets

Goodwill is capitalised and written off evenly over 10 years as in the opinion of the directors, this represents the period over which the goodwill is expected to give rise to economic benefits.

Software
The Group capitalises software expenditure as an intangible asset when it is able to demonstrate all of the following:

• The technical feasibility of completing the development so the intangible asset will be available for use or sale.
• Its intention to complete the development and to use or sell the intangible asset.
• Its ability to use or sell the intangible asset.
• How the intangible asset will generate probable future economic benefits. 
• The availability of adequate technical, financial and other resources to complete the development and to use or sell the intangible asset.
• Its ability to measure reliably the expenditure attributable to the intangible asset during its development.

Capitalised software expenditure is initially recognised at cost and subsequently measured at cost less accumulated amortisation and accumulated impairment losses.

All research expenditure and development expenditure that does not meet the above conditions is expensed as incurred.

Other intangible assets
Intangible assets purchased other than in a business combination are recognised when future economic benefits are probable and the cost or value of the asset can be measured reliably.

Intangible assets arising on a business combination are recognised, except where the asset arises from legal or contractual rights, and there is no history or evidence of exchange transactions for the same or similar assets and estimating the asset’s fair value would depend on immeasurable variables.

Intangible assets are initially recognised at cost (which for intangible assets acquired in a business combination is the fair value at acquisition date) and are subsequently measured at cost less accumulated amortisation and accumulated impairment losses. Intangible assets are amortised to profit or loss on a straight-line basis over their useful lives, as follows:-

The Other intangible assets are considered to have a useful life of 10 years and will be amortised over that period on a straight line basis, as much of the value of these assets will be expected to be extracted over this period before these are replaced by newly generated assets.  The directors anticipate that the business will continue trading using these assets for many years beyond this but this is a prudent and reasonable period over which to recognise the cost of the assets.

Capitalised software expenditure is amortised on a straight line basis over its useful life, which is between 3 and 5 years. The directors consider these useful lives to be appropriate because the value of these assets will be expected to be extracted over this period.

Amortisation is revised prospectively for any significant change in useful life or residual value.

On disposal, the difference between the net disposal proceeds and the carrying amount of the intangible asset is recognised in the statement of comprehensive income.
 

 
2.6

Tangible fixed assets

Tangible fixed assets under the cost model are stated at historical cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Historical cost includes expenditure that is directly attributable to bringing the asset to the location and condition necessary for it to be capable of operating in the manner intended by management.

At each reporting date the Group assesses whether there is any indication of impairment. If such indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is determined which is the higher of its fair value less costs to sell and its value in use. An impairment loss is recognised where the carrying amount exceeds the recoverable amount.

Depreciation is charged so as to allocate the cost of assets less their residual value over their estimated useful lives, using the straight-line method.

The assets' residual values, useful lives and depreciation methods are reviewed, and adjusted prospectively if appropriate, or if there is an indication of a significant change since the last reporting date.

Gains and losses on disposals are determined by comparing the proceeds with the carrying amount and are recognised in profit or loss.

  
2.7

Impairment of fixed assets

Assets that are subject to depreciation or amortisation are assessed at each balance sheet date to determine whether there is any indication that the assets are impaired. Where there is any indication that an asset may be impaired, the carrying value of the asset (or cash generating unit to which the asset has been allocated) is tested for impairment. An impairment loss is recognised for the amount by which the asset's carrying amount exceeds its recoverable amount. The recoverable amount is the higher of an asset's (or CGU's) fair value less costs to sell and value in use. For the purposes of assessing impairment, assets are grouped at the lowest levels for which there are separately identifiable cash flows (CGUs). Non financial assets that have been previously impaired are reviewed at each balance sheet date to assess whether there is any indication that the impairment losses recognised in prior periods may no longer exist or may have decreased.

Debtors

Short-term debtors are measured at transaction price, less any impairment. Loans receivable are measured initially at fair value, net of transaction costs, and are measured subsequently at amortised cost using the effective interest method, less any impairment.

 
2.10

Cash and cash equivalents

Cash is represented by cash in hand and deposits with financial institutions repayable without penalty on notice of not more than 24 hours. Cash equivalents are highly liquid investments that mature in no more than three months from the date of acquisition and that are readily convertible to known amounts of cash with insignificant risk of change in value.

In the Consolidated statement of cash flows, cash and cash equivalents are shown net of bank overdrafts that are repayable on demand and form an integral part of the Group's cash management.

  
2.11

Financial instruments

A financial asset or a financial liability is recognised only when the company becomes a party to the contractual provisions of the instrument. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at the transaction price, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where it is recognised at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest for a similar debt instrument.

Debt instruments are subsequently measured at amortised cost.

Other financial instruments, including derivatives, are initially recognised at fair value, unless payment for an asset is deferred beyond normal business terms or financed at a rate of interest that is not a market rate, in which case the asset is measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest for a similar debt instrument.

Financial assets that are measured at cost or amortised cost are reviewed for objective evidence of impairment at the end of each reporting date. If there is objective evidence of impairment, an impairment loss is recognised in profit or loss immediately.

For all equity instruments regardless of significance, and other financial assets that are individually significant, these are assessed individually for impairment. Other financial assets are either assessed individually or grouped on the basis of similar credit risk characteristics.

Any reversals of impairment are recognised in profit or loss immediately, to the extent that the reversal does not result in a carrying amount of the financial asset that exceeds what the carrying amount would have been had the impairment not previously been recognised.

Foreign currency translation

Transactions and balances

Foreign currency transactions are translated into the functional currency using the spot exchange rates at the dates of the transactions.

At each period end foreign currency monetary items are translated using the closing rate. Non monetary items measured at historical cost are translated using the exchange rate at the date of the transaction and non monetary items measured at fair value are measured using the exchange rate when fair value was determined.

Foreign exchange gains and losses resulting from the settlement of transactions and from the translation at period end exchange rates of monetary assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currencies are recognised in the Profit and loss account except when deferred in other comprehensive income as qualifying cash flow hedges.

 
2.13

Creditors

Short-term creditors are measured at the transaction price. Other financial liabilities, including bank loans, are measured initially at fair value, net of transaction costs, and are measured subsequently at amortised cost using the effective interest method.

 
2.14

Operating leases: the Group as lessee

Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight-line basis over the lease term.

Benefits received and receivable as an incentive to sign an operating lease are recognised on a straight-line basis over the lease term, unless another systematic basis is representative of the time pattern of the lessee's benefit from the use of the leased asset.

 
2.15

Provisions for liabilities

Provisions are recognised when an event has taken place that gives rise to a legal or constructive obligation, a transfer of economic benefits is probable and a reliable estimate can be made.

Provisions are measured as the best estimate of the amount required to settle the obligation, taking into account the related risks and uncertainties.
 
Increases in provisions are generally charged as an expense to profit or loss.

 
2.16

Finance costs

Finance costs are charged to profit or loss over the term of the debt using the effective interest method so that the amount charged is at a constant rate on the carrying amount. Issue costs are initially recognised as a reduction in the proceeds of the associated capital instrument.

 
2.17

Borrowing costs

All borrowing costs are recognised in profit or loss in the year in which they are incurred.

2.18

Pensions

Defined contribution pension plan

The Group operates a defined contribution plan for its employees. A defined contribution plan is a pension plan under which the Group pays fixed contributions into a separate entity. Once the contributions have been paid the Group has no further payment obligations.

The contributions are recognised as an expense in profit or loss when they fall due. Amounts not paid are shown in accruals as a liability in the Balance sheet. The assets of the plan are held separately from the Group in independently administered funds.

  
2.19

Taxation

The tax expense represents the sum of the current tax expense and deferred tax expense. Current tax assets are recognised when tax paid exceeds the tax payable.

Current tax is based on taxable profit for the year. Current tax assets and liabilities are measured using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting date.

Deferred tax is calculated at the tax rates that are expected to apply to the period when the asset is realised or the liability is settled based on tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting date.

Deferred tax liabilities are recognised in respect of all timing differences that exist at the reporting date. Timing differences are differences between taxable profits and total comprehensive income that arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in different periods from their recognition in the financial statements. Deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered by the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Deferred tax is recognised on income or expenses from subsidiaries, associates, branches and interests in jointly controlled entities, that will be assessed to or allow for tax in a future period except where the Group is able to control the reversal of the timing difference and it is probable that the timing difference will not reverse in the foreseeable future. 

Deferred tax is recognised on differences between the value of assets (other than goodwill) and liabilities recognised in a business combination and the amounts that can be deducted or assessed for tax. The deferred tax recognised is adjusted against goodwill.

Current and deferred tax is charged or credited in profit or loss, except when it relates to items charged or credited to other comprehensive income or equity, when the tax follows the transaction or event it relates to and is also charged or credited to other comprehensive income, or equity.

Current tax assets and current tax liabilities and deferred tax assets and deferred tax liabilities are offset, if and only if, there is a legally enforceable right to set off the amounts and the entity intends either to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.

Judgments in applying accounting policies and key sources of estimation uncertainty

The annual amortisation charge for intangible assets is sensitive to changes in the estimated useful economic lives and residual values of the assets. The useful economic lives and residual values are re assessed annually. They are amended when necessary to reflect current estimates, based on market conditions, future investments, and economic utilisation. See note 13 for the carrying amount of the intangible assets and note 2.5 for the amortisation policies used.

The intangible assets acquired on the acquisition of the IDM companies have been valued at £516,160, including deferred tax of £86,025. The value is attributed as follows:

IDM Brand [10%]       
This is the use of the IDM brand within the marketing industry and in conjunction with the DMA activities. 

Customer lists [40%]  
The value lies in the goodwill of customers and members of the Institute of Data and Marketing – and the possibility of cross selling products between the DMA and the IDM.

IDM Course Materials - IPR [10%]
Over the years, the IDM has developed a suite of market-leading data and digital training courses to educate and enlighten the UK marketing sector.

Alumnae Community [20%]
There are over 1,000 members of the Institute of Direct Marketing who have qualified through IDM qualification courses.  There is a strong affection and affiliation with these members – who have the potential to be supporters of the DMA.

Councils and network of Tutors [20%]
The IDM has a number of marketing industry councils that we deem to have a valuable role in steering the future of the combined DMA Group. The tutors are secured by the IDM under contract and are considered to be a business USP.

Amortisation of Intangible assets
Each intangible asset identified above is considered to have a useful life of 10 years and will be amortised on a straight-line basis as much of the value of these assets will be expected to be extracted over this period before these are replaced by newly generated assets. The directors anticipate that the business will continue trading using these assets for many years beyond this but this is a prudent and reasonable period over which to recognise the costs of the assets.

Pension commitments

The Group and the company operates a defined contribution pension scheme for certain employees. The assets of the scheme are held separately from those of the Group and the company in an independently administered fund.  

The pension cost charge represents contributions payable by the Group and the company to the fund and amounted to £64,221 for the Group of which £64,221 related solely to the company 
(2024, Group - £64,210, company- £64,210)

Contributions totalling £759 for the Group and £759 solely in relation to the company 
(2024, Group - £12,838, Company - £12,838) were payable to the fund at the balance sheet date.
